Leaking AR2078?

I have a new Beeman AR2078 that I only got to shoot it with the first two CO2 carts and it shot great.  Then on the second time it leaked out in a very short time.  So just to be sure I didn't cause the problem and repeated and the same thing happened.  I would like to send it out for repair and would like any suggestion as to whom.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Charles

place a tiny 0-ring 6.5mm x 1.5mm  on tip of co2 cartridge using SIL-GLYDE  silicone grease brake lube   from any auto parts store  and screw-in cartridge until it fires, pinching the Co2 cartridge only

hold the co2 cart. to prevent it from rotating  which maks a deeper  bigger  hole on cart.

it works on my Crosman  357  which holds the gas charge to shoot over 100 pellets  every day and nite
it has a 3mm shoulder piercing needle pin washer which seals the tiny o-ring
this restored gun must be over 30 years or more  stored in a plastic bag in the garage

Great tip, thank you.  I will add that sometimes you can get a batch of defective CO2 cartridges.

From where is the gas escaping?  For example if you can hear it rushing out the muzzle (with the bolt closed / pushed forward), the problem is where the poppet presses against the valve seat.  If so, the fiber filter in the valve may already be separating and preventing it from sealing.  One of the first things people recommend is to remove it because it will cause trouble, sometimes sooner as opposed to later.

Be advised there are only 3 seals that could possibly be leaking:
1.  the poppet, as described above
2.  the O-ring on the valve body (size -113)
3.  the O-ring on the end cap (also size -113)

By the way, if you place an O-ring on the nose of the cartridge as described in a prior post, it will change the QB from a 2-cartridge gun that pressurizes the tube, into a 1-cartridge gun that pressurizes only the interior of the valve (a la Crosman 2240).  At first it sounds like an interesting thing to try, but the only thing it does is isolate a potential leak at the end cap...which has an O-ring you can replace in 10 seconds.  It's not clear to me that it would be a particularly useful experiment.

The QB platform is one of the easiest guns to work on.  If you have any mechanical aptitude whatsoever, you can fix it yourself.

it may just be the hole pierced by the needle pin washer, hold the cartridge while scewing it in slowly until gun fires, all U need is a pinch, not a deep pierce

this works only if the piercing needle pin washer is like the Crosman  or Umarex  type  where U can clear the hole of the needle pin  with 1/64 inch piano wire, it may be  plugged up with  white sediment from the  co2 gas

 Mine was leaking ,first thing i tried was  tightening the valve using a long forked tool …this help for a couple sessions…then it began leaking again…..I read to put a couple of drops of pellgun oil down the tube and let sit …that was a year ago still no leaking…… apparently it was the o-ring around the valve…I have a  repair kit lol…..good luck

 The end cap orings may swell and not fit right until the CO2 vents out of the rubber

Where is it leaking from?  Does the gas go out the action/barrel or is it coming out around the end cap?  The location of the frost can tell you a lot.  The gun pictured here just needed a new o-ring on the cap.

As Jason mentioned, these guns are really easy to work on.

If new send it back to the seller for a exchange.
It's not a big deal to reseal but a new gun should not leak.

Is a gun that may have been in stock for over say a year …is it still considered new….things do dry out …just asking

 When you buy a new gun its warranty starts when you buy it not when it was made. If it has never been sold and used its new regardless of how long it sat on the shelf.

I do believe that he bought the thing back in February, so the warranty issue may well be moot at this point.

They're super easy to reseal, so hopefully he'll go that route.  There are good vids on it on youtube.

Today I took a look at the end cap and the white O ring looked rough so I removed it and when the O rings come in from Jason( a big thanks) I'll start there and hope it was the problem.  Will update and may have more questions than answers. ha  Charles

By the way, here's a copy of Flying Dragon's disassembly and service manual.

Please note its O-ring material recommendations aren't optimal.  It lists silicone for the valve, which is highly permeable to CO2 (nearly 100x that of Buna-N).  And it lists Viton for the end cap, which will swell like most other materials.  There may be other things I would disagree with but I expect the exploded drawing and disassembly instructions will be very helpful sooner or later.
