It's no substitute for a patch clean, but I sometimes shoot lead free pellets sprayed with ballistol when I kniw I will be switching to a different pellet than usual. For instance, say I usually shoot ftts in the 880 but am going to switch to baracudas for a while, I might shoot 10 ballistol coated lead free pellets through the 880 before the switch. Not a commonly posted about thing, only read others doing this a few times if memory serves.

Instructions say to fire a pair (yes, two of them in line) to do quick field cleaning. I haven’t tried them yet. With Ballistol on them, they might serve the same duty as what you described. For right now, I’m leaving the barrel as is but will practice knotting weed whacker and fishing line together. They’re both slippery.
I just cut a downward angle slit in the weed eater line to hook the fishing line in. If you just spool some fishing line out there is no resistance in pulling it up the barrel. I keep the length of weed eater line and a spool of fishing line along with q tips, patches and cleaning fluids (goo gone, balistol and alcohol) in my cleaning box.I vape so I clean, label and use the empty 30ml nic salt bottles for the fluids. I also use one for a convenient Secret Sauce bottle to lube pumpers.I usually clean and lube a few guns at a time so I set up a cleaning station and git with it.
