Back in the '80s an old timer (think it was Riley Ledbetter) told me that back then, Crosman used Sherwin Williams semi-gloss paint. Sounds reasonable for the time period. Good product.
also, +1 on the Duracote. THey have a nice "gun blue" product that I have used a couple of times. Works well, but is expensive. Has a short life once the spray can is opened (several days), so make sure that you have a couple of projects to use it up.

FWIW: I know this is an old posting but I have used this product in the gloss black before and it isn't as glossy as your regular gloss spays. Great product for aluminum and very, very durable, I've used it on trigger guards, steel barrels, etc.
I highly recommend in the gun world of things. I even sprayed an ax head that I used for chopping wood, a lot still on there and this has been some ~ 18+ years ago.
Comes in different colors also, I personally think it would be a perfect match on the receivers spoken of.

I use Aluma-Hyde on all my Crosman refinish jobs with great results. I do speed up curing on metal parts by baking in the oven on the lowest setting for hour or so after a day of drying. It can take a long while to cure otherwise. I also order extra spray nozzles as they sometimes clog up. Simi -gloss is what I use or matte on sights and silencers.
