Tips on a new PCP

Hello all, looking at buying my first expensiiiiiive pcp. I’ve got a need for something hard hitting down range with fast follow ups and a deep shot count. Been looking at FX rifles, been looking at Evanix, even looked seriously at the seneca eagle claw, but I’m honestly stuck with option paralysis.
I’ve saved about 2,000 dollars, so price isn’t that big a deal.
What I’m looking for is a quick follow up repeater with 70+fpe and a reliable format that doesn’t tend to leak or otherwise fail.
I’ve got a hand pump but I’ve allotted for a compressor if I need one, because FX uses a lot of larger tanks instead of tubes.

Basically: can y’all help me pick out a savagely reliable plinker/Hunter that can do what I need it to at a moments notice without needing constant top-ups like the Bulldog or needing ridiculously expensive shot shells like the seneca double shot.

Edguns, like leishey 2: what is the FPE you can get from a 9mm?

Don’t believe the reports 😉 most of the reports are full of $hit. Leiahys are built like tanks. The 9mm makes about 120 foot pounds according to the tests I’ve seen.

There have been some great suggestions. I have an fx Maverick 25 compact. The good thing with fx is the three year warranty. They are complicated containing many orings and parts. Mine was solid and just stupid consistent shot to shot until recently. It now throws errant low velocity shots. I have tested numerous things and I believe it’s a worn hammer as I’ve ruled out about everything else and it doesn’t seem a really unusual problem from my research. Not a big deal to fix assuming that is what is wrong. I also own another gun suggested on here. An AGT Vulcan 3 in 30. Mine is the 700mm. It can be configured in many power representing ways. More simple platform containing (so I’m told) only 9 orings in the whole gun. It flat out shoots it to distance. Probably more the caliber than necessarily the gun but this is my easiest gun to shoot accurately at 75-85 yards. It’s at idle pushing 44.75 pellets to 900 fps and will shoot them in the same spot if I do my part.   Two excellent choices. The FX is an adjusters/tinkerers delight. The AGT is a more pull it out of the box and shoot type of gun. Pick your preference.

I like our Eagle Claw in 25 cal, but it's a bit long and heavy. I can tote it around the woods all day, but I prefer smaller/lighter rifles if I don't need the power. I would allot for a Yong Heng compressor and a 100-ish ci bottle. A 70+ FPE air rifle is going to be a bit of an air hog. My Eagle Claw gets 12 consistent shots on full power, but can be a bear to fill with a hand pump. With the bottle I can usually shoot until I get bored of the accuracy or feel I've sent enough $0.06 slugs down range.

EdGun owner here, and Mike is dead-on.  Don't overlook the Leshiy 2.  You can find them used over at AGN (Airgun Nation) in the classified.

I'm getting more than 50 FPE right now with my Leshiy Classic using 28.5 grain NSA slugs in .2165 caliber and I still have overhead for heavier .22 NSAs and more velocity.  In .25 I broke 80 FPE, but accuracy suffered (the Alpha barrel didn't like NSAs).  Yes, I know it is a single shot, but realistically, for hunting, you only need 1 shot.  Good luck finding one, though.  Seems like no one is selling their Leshiy Classic, plus single-shot so no bueno based on your desires.

Pesting is another story.  If I was in the market, Leshiy 2 would be first, followed by an RTI or one of the other Ukrainian/Eastern European brands.  There are some FX airguns I like, but I have minimal experience with their newer products.

Perhaps the most important questions to ask are:
1: bull-pup or traditional rifle
2: pellets only or slugs and pellets, or just slugs
3: easily-interchangeable barrels

I base my purchasing decisions on spreadsheet-math by factoring in every imaginable spec I'm looking for, weighing importance for each item numerically, then tallying total points to make my decision.  Thus far, this has never failed me because my emotions have no bearing on what I end up with.

To expand your search into your possible picks you can use Google search. Put in the specific gun you are interested in and include "gateway to airguns" in the search bar. It's a much faster way to access information on our forum than using the forum seach function.
You'll find interesting things about many of the guns suggested here by fellow members that actually own the guns instead of reviews by folks that get freebies for good reviews.

Have you considered how much of your budget you are going to reserve for decent glass, or do you already have the optics covered?  Because a great rifle will still shoot like an average rifle if you can't see what you're hitting, or zero always changes.

My number one tip. Research dealer/manufacturer support and replacement parts availability. A new gun you cannot shoot is a huge disappointment.

I have a $2k plus gun that I sent to the manufacturer at their  recommendation with a note to inform me of receipt and to possibly discuss some upgrades. Normally I do all of my own repairs regardless of a warranty but in this case I spent $81.00 and sent it in.

They do not have a phone number that you can call. Multiple emails and instagram messages have been absolutely ignored. They received and signed for  the gun on June 2nd.......Here I wait, perhaps they are out of business......who knows if I'll ever see my gun again.

I Google Earthed their address and it turns out it is a USPS center?  How do you do business like that, UPS to the Post Office? I manufactured tens of thousands of motorcycle parts, every package had my exact location and phone and any caller could talk directly to me.

I resist flaming anyone so I am not naming them at this point, but I'm at the limits of my patience.
