Shooting collection has gotta go

I just took the Daisy 1200 out on the deck and shot up some cans.    You sure do get a lot of shots out of one CO2 cartridge and it's really quiet.  Although it's a little on the small side for my hand, l like the grip and the way it hangs in the hand.      So it has it's charms but competition level accuracy is not one of them.

I like that with the 1200 one CO2 cart gives you about as many shots as it takes to deplete the BB reservoir. I think that's a neat feature, whether or not it was designed that way.

I don't know how many shots it holds but I must have fired it at least 40 times yesterday.   It's still holding pressure today and I just now shot off about 20 more.   I'll shoot it again tomorrow if there's still CO2 in it.   This AG has been in my closet since about the mid 70s and the first time I have ever loaded a CO2 cartridge into it was within the last couple years.   

I pleased that the seals are still good after all those years of sitting.   I'm disappointed that the same is not true of my other old AGs.

Shrinking collections is hard.  That's all I can say about that.

I purged a number of bangsticks and tools a few years back, and recently started lining up tools to purge again.  It seems no matter what I get rid of, I'm gifted yet more. 

This is the type of stuff that reminds us of our mortality- and ensures we stay humble at the end, because we can't take it with us.  Sonja and I haven't shot much recently.  Been too busy with other things, but the airguns are always there, waiting for use.  That's the good thing about having a very small collection- it is easier to store and easier to shoot 'em all.  If I had collections like some folks here, I'd end up just staring at them not quite sure which one to be shooting!


Frank- I think all that medical stuff just means you're a little "seasoned" than you were when you didn't have those things going on.  My father-in-law has all that plus a couple new shoulders and he's still out doin' stuff.  Don't let some medical stuff get in the way of living

The one I used to have I found to be real accurate with the Daisy BB's.
 Often wondered what a precision barrel cut down from the 499 would do for it?

Yeah, me too.  I've recently sold 2 PB handguns and 2 PB rifles.  I've got an excellent Diana 34 that I've listed to no avail and am starting to wonder why I need three HW50S'.

Sometimes I'm afraid that all us old guys getting rid  of their collections is going to flood the market and drive prices down.   But then when I look at prices, they're still going up.

In recent years, I've accumulated way more PBs through gifts and inheritances than by purchases.  I'm stunned by the relative quality and collectability of some of them.   I don't want anyone to say that about my stuff when I sign off for the final time.

Youth is wasted on the young.  Sure, we all had our youthful exuberance and experiences... but I feel we have to be older, more jaded, and more wise to truly get the most out of living Great.

Well speaking for my self I feel that a good old fashioned d***d near killed myself moment restores one's perspective.  Makes you appreciate what you got!  Given my general lack of common sense the odds are good that I'll do something to scare the poop out of myself shortly!

Interesting discussion without getting too morbid, yet realistic.
 I have been pondering my own mortality lately, and what I should start parting with now so my wife won't have to deal with it all one of these days.
I am far from a minimalist... I'm a pack-rat.
  PB's will go to the S.I.L.'s / Grandsons... guess I should dictate "who" so they don't fight over them, though I doubt they would.
My airguns are a different story, while they enjoy shooting them when they are here, I don't think either of them "desire" any of the AG's I have.
 My motorcycles should go. I only ride one and there is no interest in my family other than me.
Then there is the 100+ peanut-butter jars full of misc screws, nails, bolts, nuts, washers... 
My tools? Nope, off the table, never know when I will need one.

 Good luck at the Gun Show, I have thought about having a Rummage sale but don't want strangers "rummaging" through my stuff.

Yeah Scott I'm starting tp feel my mortality also. For instance I had a ss. single six in the safe (like new) that the only time I used it was when we went rabbit hunting. If we saw a sitting rabbit I would use that rather then the scatter gun. And really that rarely happened. I lost most of my spots to rabbit hunt anymore except on my youngest sons 11 acres and maybe we'll go twice a year. So basically it just sits in the safe and doesn't get used. My son has been drooling for that gun for years and said don't ever sell it, I'll buy it. So I did and replaced it with silver in the safe.
