Apologies to Sheridan Aficionados - forgive me

I do like my sheridans and regularly show them the affection they rightly deserve. But I m a weak man. And when an opportunity came along, without thinking, I just reacted and gave in to my impulse. I don’t think it’s a case of sacrilege as there are other airguns that get my time and attention, multi-pumps, PCPs, even a couple CO2’s.

In between the 2 pics it needs some work. Hope I m not too much trouble?

Problem number 1 resolved. I received the air rifle with a carriage bolt in place of the missing original stock retention bolt. Luckily the previous owner didn’t try too hard to make it work and the stock lug threads were not buggered up. It took a bit of searching but in an assortment of misc ATV motorcycle/scooter parts I found a temporary solution and was able to secure the stock and take a photo of my “BS” clone.

Initial tests verified what I was told, and air is leaking out the barrel when pumped.

Try the alcohol flush, if it does not work, you are still ahead of the game with pre rinsing the parts clean.

I still think the SKB is the gun Sheridan should have made.  Far better then the typical model C could ever be

 Wow.  I never even saw a picture of one.  I was aware of the Spanish Setra, didn't know a Japanese version existed.  These must be very rare in this country, yes?

Only difference between my SKB and the YouTube video is mine has a solid blued pivot pin. Too bad he didn’t give details on performance. Many have said the Japanese Sharp Ace is the MSP powerhouse. I too am curious how the SKB will perform.

Its going to be a bit as the alcohol flush didn’t work. I have a Sheridan rebuild kit on the shelf. Will have see just how similar it is to the Sheridan. With the pump mechanism working it should help with disassembly.

I did. Maybe too much, figured it would just blow out any extra. But no change … still leaking out the barrel when pumped.

Yep - thought of that too.

Has quite the hammer spring! PITA getting the end cap off despite nearly 2 inches of compression on the spring.

Wonder if it really needs all that spring? Maybe engineers were concerned with potential valve lock from over pumping?

Valve is apart. Looks like someone’s been inside before. Valve seal material is a poor fit!

Check valve seat did not come out. I will clean inside and investigate further. Maybe it’ll be OK?

It's good to see what the internals look like.  Someone else will eventually appreciate your posting those pics when they're working on their gun.  The machining looks to be of good quality.

Pulled the pump. Cup looks good but isn’t very flexible. Based on the bent pin - I’d say its been over pumped a time or two.

I’ll soak it in some ATF while I work on sealing the valve.

My SKB is 177 cal. Here are some reference dimensions

using a drill bit through the alignment hole a 1/8 bit just fits the barrel TP - so .125” or 3mm plus a little

exhaust port in valve is 5mm or .195” a bit oversize for 177 but would work well if 22

throat is 7mm or .276” x 9mm

major diameter of stem is 5mm and the step is 3.8mm or .150” x 12mm

Valve design seems sized well for air flow. Only issues I see, or not, are the exhaust is large for 177 and the valve 1/2 in the tube is threaded for the check valve nut. How to seal the exhaust and TP and keep pressure from escaping via the threads and out the alignment hole??
