Hi Rich.
I measured the cocking force, on my rifle, 3 times with a digital bathroom scale.
Each time it peaked at 55 lbs.
I can cock it 5 or 6 times with one hand.
After that it is two hands.
I have got around 250 shots thru it now.
I will be mounting my scope soon.
Best Wishes - Tom

I mounted the new Hammers 3-9x40 AO Mill Dot scope yesterday, on the 22 cal. Gamo Magnum GR rifle.
I sighted, this morning, at 30 yards shooting crosman hollow points.
I was able to cover the last four shots with a dime.
The time was 8 am.
22 F.
No wind.
I was shooting seated with the rifle braced on a doorway's upright frame.
One thing that I really like about this gun is the stock screws are torx screws.
Best Wishes - Tom

All the stars must have been in the right place.
I just got lucky this morning.
I doubt if I will do that well next time.
Besides 4 good shots don't tell the real story.
The real story comes to light with 20 or 30 shots.
This morning I quit while I was ahead.
My hands were getting cold !

Good Gamo, eh Tom. Looks like it is doing well for you. There will be off days but more good days to come. I just can't comprehend the cold that you experience; just not in my experience.
By the way, i called at Gun City to buy some pellets yesterday . They had a BSA Spitfire and a CFX and a gen 3 Gamo magnum in the rack. I wanted one of each and I already have a CFX and a Spitfire

Hugh.
I can not say it is a good gun just yet. It is still to early.
I can say that it looks like it might be.
Actually the weather here in Minnesota has been relatively mild, so far this winter. Winter temperatures can get down to - 20 F. or even colder.
I shoot with gloves on when that happens.
This rifle will never be in the same class as the high quality German rifles.
What I want it to be is a reasonably accurate, all weather, hunting rifle .
Best Wishes - Tom

Pretty Nice group! Especially in those temps. I grew up in New Jersey and remember it getting to cold to breath, it actually hurt your throat. You could only be outside for a
short time.
I received this Tune in a Tube today, (along with some excellent bathroom reading material!). I'll give it a shot and post any changes when I can. I work 10 hr. days and go to work
in the dark and come home in the dark this time of year. I'm enjoying your results though. I figure I'll start out with the scope Gamo provided and see how she hold up.
I'll have some time after Christmas, and hopefully post some results too.
Keep up the good work! Stay warm!
Cheers!

My thoughts on my Gamo Magnum GR.
It handles & points well. It weighs 8 1/3 lbs with the scope that I have on it.
Trigger is ok. As stated it is about 3 lbs. I am good with the the trigger the way it is.
The cocking force is strong but that is to be expected whth a magnum breakbarrel rifle.
It has a recoil to it but not as sharp as a Benjamin NP XL 1100.
It is not overly loud. About a 3.
It appears to be reasonably accurate but many more shots must be taken to know this for sure.
So far .... I have not found anything that I could fault wit on my rifle.
Best Wishes - Tom

Well guess I can say that the gun has some power to it.
At 25 yards it shot thru a box with a steel can in it. The lid was inside the can.

Thankfully no Beans were harmed during the making of these photos.
I'll see if I can put together some power experiments too.
Did the pellet lodge in the back side of the can?

Look and see what it did in my next reply.

Here's one for ya!
This is a quarter I shot through a Chronograph, Crosman domed 14.3 gr pellet. 926 fps. 27.2 fpe. Granted the muzzle was only about 5 feet away.
Pretty impressive though. Sadly, one President was injured during the making of these photos, however, is expected to make a full recovery.

It would be interesting to take a hammer and punch and actually hit the quarter to realize the power it would take to make it look like that.

I did not shoot any quarters but I did another box shot. Same as before only this time I duct tape a 3/4 pine board to the box. The board stopped the crosman hollow point but not by much. The pellet penetrated 5/8 of an inch into the board.
