What I like about the M48/52 is it's compact size, relative to other rifles(especially break barrels). Some claim the sidelever cocking is akward or difficult. I find it neither, only different. I think you'll get used to it with no problems. The M48/52 is a robust design that will last a lifetime. They respond well to tuning, both DYI and pro. I've owned both the M48 and M52, and I prefer the M52 for the slightly nicer stock with the slightly longer LOP.

Thanks for your input Nathan, the same goes for everyone else that helped me decide to purchase the Diana 48. My first thought is to personalize the stock with my own carvings. I may start with a grape vine. After all Diana should be adorned with a more splendid eloquence.

So tomorrow is the big day!!! FedEx is delivering my new Diana 48. I'll mount the rail and scope, (druel) put the bore sight in her, run a couple hundred Coleman hollow point premiers through her (druel) then I'll find out what she really likes to chew on (definitely getting hot in here) then give them nutters *(&^!!! So that's my weekend plans. Oh I decided against carving a grapevine on the stock, instead I'm going to do a relief of some oak leaves, acorns and a couple squirrels. That should give her a nice personal touch.

Well I can say one thing for sure, thank God I am a big man and used to carrying a heavy rifle afield, because this Diana 48 weighs just about as much as my 1903 Springfield 5.56 She's a real beauty though. Ya know the pictures they show of it just doesn't do it any justice. You really have to hold it in your hands to appreciate the quality and craftsmanship.

I found a youtube video about a tuned Diana 48 I haven't even shot mine yet and I'm already looking at tuning it. He puts a pellet on top of the scope to show how smooth and quiet his tune job is. I am impressed.

He must have the weakest spring ever in that gun. That pellet staying put aint gonna happen with mine.

He says he lives in Poland and It is possible due to a new ligthweight piston, perfectly fited mainspring guide and Lazaglide system. He says, The power is about 17J /4,5mm/ due to law /power limit in Poland is <17J.
The piston and silencer was made by most famous Polish tuner Hogan. The barrel was shortened to 260mm, end was lathed at the space of 40 mm, barrel was cooled by dry ice/carbon dioxide/, silencer was warmed up, and all is stick together by Loctite and 1 small screw. New piston was made, similar to the Prosport. Piston seal "Zepto" made of poliuretan.New mainspring "oteva". Mainspring guide perfectly fited, made of polyamid,Lazaglide system.
LR barrel/ schratched barrel/- higher speed at long distances.General lubrication was done.

Anybody heard of this stuff?

This To6 trigger is amazing! Not only that but every pellet I shot at a paint bucket at 40 yards went completely through! I'll have to put up some paper targets to see and post what groups I get.

i love the model 48! i think it's about perfect for a hunting platform. mine has killed countless amounts of game out to 50+ yards with ease! i have a 22 caliber with a t01 trigger.thinking of buying a new t06 to try out

I've noticed already when I hold her just right she goes (chooonk) when I fire a pellet, and when I hold her wrong she sounds all springy like (dairnk) pellet is still in the kill zone, but definitely not part of the group.

Thank you kymike I hope to enjoy this one as much as I used to enjoy my old 34 the great thing about the present is, I have a nice waterproof digital camera to document my adventures. My past achievements with my Diana 34 .177 are all just ghosts now, but I knew "our" capabilities.

Thought I'd sign in early make a donation and check the threads before I head to school. I am joining the local gun club so I can get a real feel for the side lever 48 and fine tune it, plus I'll have a warm place to shoot when the snow flies.
