UPS cost YIKES !!!

They should have been going by size a long time ago.
You are taking up valuable space where other packages could have gone.

That's silly, TBH- it's the weight of the package that costs fuel and maintenance.  NOT the size of the package.  Also, it's the weight that the driver cares about too.  I get what you're saying, but physical size shouldn't be the first consideration when calculating delivery price. Also, back in the day, over a certain size you WERE charged more...

  The UPS Stores cost more than going to the shipping counter at the UPS Hub with the package as they are franchise stores that have additional mark up for the owner.  I found that out a few years ago when the Store wanted about twice as much for shipping a wood stock as taking it to the actual UPS Hub where all the trucks are.  I assume this is still true and never go to the UPS Stores in shopping centers.

That's interesting!!  I'd try this out, but all the UPS hubs close to me have been closed to the public for 2+ years now...

I have a rifle shipping from Ohio.
The auction house called and said that the shipping would be $35.00.........
I punched the details in on Pirateship and am shipping UPS for $14.00...........

Package size matters from a density standpoint.....light, large packages take up volume that could be better used with additional or heavier packages.
