What are you liking with the Hammer? Bonus points if there is a mold available for casting.

At the moment, I have a Lee REAL in 320 grains and a .510 sizing die for my press. I've been looking at 50-70 molds for a heavier size, and maybe a mold from NOE at around 400 grains. I did look around Accurate Molds site, they list a large number of designs that can be cut and no idea where to start. A boat tail makes a lot of sense, maybe I'll ask them if they can make a BBT in .510 for me.

Hammer has a 1.07 inch long maximum (so says Umarex), too bad it isn't longer, but it's what we have to work with.

I just shot a few 330 with a Texan. Worked great.

Umarex also has these: Umarex SLA .50 Caliber Pellet Gun Air Rifle Pellets, for The Hammer Air Gun (20 Count)

Just barely load into the Texan. Haven’t shot them.

I am using the accurate 51-350a mold. They at 362g with lead mix I use.

I was looking at that one and maybe a 4xx grain one on their website. Wish the lead time was a little better, but I may need to order one straight away.

What kind of velocity/energy are you seeing with the ammo? I'm wanting to get up around 600fpe which by the chart on the product page might be had with a 3xx grain round and still have decent velocity for a flatter curve.

Of course now I'm waiting for the rifle to come back from Umarex, so it will be a little bit.

I have not shot mine over a chronograph yet, I am looking for tight groups at 50yds. I rarely take deer and hogs over 50yds due to heavy vegetation I hunt in. For now the casted accurate slugs are giving me a 1 inch group at 50yds. This gun has the power no matter what you use. Ear plugs and a huge reinforced back stop is must, it will plow through things. I have the DonnyFL Emperor with extension to tame the report on it. Bob at Mr. Hollowpoint has had excellent results with his 385g hollow point ammo. I haven't tried his slugs yet. His ammo is casted and sized to .510. I have tried the NSA 330g they are okay but get a bigger group with them. I finding that this gun does better casted slugs vs swaged. This is my experince with it. Things maybe different with other folks shooting this gun.

Have you shot groups with the shroud installed? It looks like they pull the barrel in tension with the shroud tube. That said I only spent about 30 minutes looking at it before I found that the barrel was well used and the gun had to go back.

That said noise and backstop are not an issue for me right now, I have to go to a firearm range to shoot so there are way hotter things being used.

Yes the shroud is installed, it required to mount the moderator to the barrel. No poi changes with it at any time. I bought my gun directly from Umarex during their flash sale. I paid $719 and free shipping for a brand new gun. I have not any issues with it at all.

I may want to consider something similar then, have to see how it performs. I've also considered putting a muzzle brake on it, so many videos of people getting whacked by their scopes.

You will want a scope with a long eye relief, this gun was named right. It has a hefty recoil and will bust you if you have a short relief scope mounted. If you wear glasses give yourself a lot of room between you and the scope. Definitely keep your face and left hand away from the magazine area, it will bite. The left side of the magazine discharges a powerful burst of air when fired, just like the blow by of a revolver cylinder. It states it in the owner's manual in a warning section. I was hesitant at shooting it after seeing how many were being nailed by it, after the first few shots and knowing how it handles, I am comfortable with shooting it now. I have shot from my tree stand with no problems. I highly recommend that the owner's manual is thoroughly read, this gun has multiple safety features on it, if not followed it will not fire.

Going to put a red dot on for first use to clear my glasses until I get a good feel for it. I have a thought that there is a lot of extra gas coming out the muzzle, and maybe it needs to be turned back a little. Not sure if they built any adjustment into the regulator, and they won't send a parts diagram or list.

Scratch that, got a Bushnell Banner 3-9 scope made for muzzle loaders with a 6 inch relief. Hopefully that's enough.

Not sure how many people will see this in here, but just got done casting some Lee 450 grain 50-70 bullets. Sizing was a bit of a pain, need to polish the die for a better time squeezing them down from the 0.515 they dropped to the 0.510 we need. Even with some silicone sprayed on them for lube it was smearing some lead on the sides of the die. Going go try running the temperature colder next time. But have 64 I'm going to powder coat (about 4pounds of lead). They average around 455 grains after I've trimmed of a little fin squished out the back from sizing. These are right at 1 inch long, so the longest Umarex says will fit in the mag.

Also for continuity, here is the other round I'm going to try, Lee REAL in 320 grain. I kind of expect trouble with these, they taper to help load through the muzzle, and the measurements seem different from what Lee has listed. I get .512, .508, .594, .495 for the rings. Even after powder coat that second and third ring is smaller than I want. I have a pile of them, so unless they are complete junk, they will probably go down range. Also in that picture are some Umarex 550 grain, I bought one box to check out, probably note going to buy more just because of price.

One more for now. 320gr, 450gr, 550gr. Note the length I was given by Umarex is a bit wrong, the 550 measure just under 1.1 inch long.

Got the mold from Accurate, looks nice. I may have time to cast something this weekend to show off what it looks like.

I may not powder coat all of these, I may try some lube which is 45 Alox, 45 floor wax, 10 solvent (so really 50/50 Alox/carnuba after it hardens)

I just cleaned this new mold, I have to say that the mold cavities in this Accurate mold are the smoothest I've seen in my limited experience. The boat tail is absolutely slippery. I also think I'm going to like the thicker sprue plate, once it gets up to temp it should help keep the lead from sticking. Overall the build quality is just very high and if I find other favorite shapes I may get some cut at Accurate. It's rough that its so much more money than a Lee mold, but Ill choose Accurate over a similar priced Lyman every time in the future (assuming it casts as well as it's made). Just wish he had hollow point options.

Got almost 4 pounds more cast. Getting around 387gr for the boat tail, and 370 for the "regular". Both are dropping right around .511 which means they could be lubed and shot without sizing. I'll probably still size down to .510 before powder coat and then leave them at whatever size results.

The magazines that I had measured .511 so that's kind of my target now.
