Diana 34 Pro-Compact to N-Tec

Has anyone converted a Pro-Compact (spring) to an  N-Tec gas ram? How difficult is it and what parts are needed? Any advise would be appreciated.

Nope, not me.  My N-Tec has all ways been an N-Tec.
As with most things Diana Hector Medina is the one to ask.

Hector had an article or blog on his Connecticut Custom Airguns site about how he went about it.  I believe he posted a link to the article here on GTA as well.  The bottom line is it CAN be done if you have the patience and ability as well as the required parts.  At the very least you'll need the piston and trigger group from the NTEC gun, though those parts from the newer EMS series would probably work as well.  You'll also need a source for the gas spring.  From there it's all down hill.  Is the conversion worth it?  Only you can decide.  I'll stick with the coil spring.

Thomas, It sounds like it would not be easy or inexpensive. I have 2 Pro-compacts. Both are perfect and my favorite riffle. I wanted an N-Tec and thought I could convert one of my Pro-compacts. Looks like it would be a lot less stressful to buy one if they become available ( N-Tec Premium $399 AGD coming soon). I don't know how the EMS N-Tec would compare to the original? The stock on the Premium N-Tec is beautiful.

I think I might look at the HW-50 which is close to the Pro-Compact size and everybody seems to love this riffle. I do like the carbine size and at 74 have no problem cocking the Pro-Compact.

Do not get me wrong, but the HW 50 is 2-3 fpe less than your ProCompact.  Hope you have a hogsback stock on it?
FWIW-I love the HW 50 platform, just not as powerful as your D-34.

Thank's Yogi, The HW-50 in 22 would be different than anything I have. with a HW moderator it would look very similar to the Diana Pro-Compact.

The HW moderator is very very long.  I believe 8 inches or more.  It would NOT look like your 34 Pro Compact.  With shorter moderator perhaps?

340 N-Tec with a chopped and threaded barrel?? Talk to John in PA and see what he says.

You already know about how expensive converting a 34 to an N-Tec ram is. Easy way to explain it?? It would cost just
about as much as an entire 340 to convert your 34 by the time you bought all the needed parts and paid for the machine
work on the receiver (not reversible by the way, but you knew that) to make the new trigger group fit.

If you are having trouble cocking your 34 PC, a chopped 340 might well be even harder. My 340 has a higher cocking effort than my 34's. You can also try a softer spring kit in your PC. It would be a cheaper option and let you continue to use the gun.

Yogi, thank you, I did not know the HW moderator was that long. Have you reviewed the HW 50s hunter on AOA's website. total length is 44". beautiful set up.

RedFeather, No i'm OK with the cocking effort on the Pro-Compact. I read where the cocking effort on the N-Tec is 38 lbs. The Pro-compact is a little harder than my 34's (about 33 lbs) to cock.  Good idea on the spring kits. Thank's, Bill.

And I do think that unless there is a REAL GOOD reason (super accurate barrel, or sentimental), that would validate the conversion, you're better off getting a 340 NTec straightaway.
The true equivalents to your Pro Compact in NTec would have been the short barreled Mauser AM03, as explained in this entry:

The HW50S is much lighter and to me it feels smaller than the 34 Pro Compact.

Hector that sounds extremely enticing. Do they actually exist? Will we ever see them in the US?

Oh they probably be made to exist if you get an aftermarket barrel, say...something from LW? maybe. Cut it to length, crown it, do all the milling to make
it fit the new EMS breech block. Even more if you want the front sight dovetailed for open sights...lol. Custom made muzzle break maybe???

Now dig out your credit card since at close to $400 for just the rifle, then add in that custom machined barrel...

Am I close at $700?
