Sheridan BS: how to mount a vintage 4X Redfield scope?

  Easy to make if you happen to be a machinist....81/2 oz., is that steel?  Very nice work.

Sorry it is aluminum, I meant 8 1/2 with the little Redfield. If you know somebody with a good home shop they will be able to make it. I made my first one in the mid 80's with a drill press and files-still use it but I'm not that picky

 There have been several different scope mounts made for Sheridans over the years , but most shooters find them less than ideal. The 2 piece clamps worked pretty well as long as they weren't the ones with screws that dug into the side of the barrel.  Most people objected to that. I have, or have had numerous Sheridans with scopes mounted on them. There are several one piece mounts that work well. One person used to make a good one, but I cannot remember his name & I think he quit making those.
 I have NEVER had a scope mount, or rear sight cause barrel separation, but I am careful & don't let those get banged around. I can see a dropped Sheridan with a scope of wedged rear sight , causing some separation. 
  Below is a rare mount made by " B Square " that worked very well.  I wish I had a few more for those.

I like a low scout scope, this is easy enough to make. It works very well with a light scope, this one is for a 3/4 inch Redfield IER scope. Total weight is 8 1/2  oz. Higher mounts and heavier scopes get more leverage on the barrel but maybe not too much?

Aha, finally this is making sense of a one-piece scope mount I was asking for, and black anodize too. Someone should start making and selling this design. The old Sheridan Inter-scope mount is similar on the barrel mount section, but it needs a separate scope rings or sort of to attach to. Thanks for sharing the info.

Here's the first one I made. Really don't need the extra screw, I thought it would help leveling the scope. The trouble with making it is the number of scope and mount combos that won't work

That is SWEET!  Love the low mount. 

I feel ya on the re-makes.  I've done some machining in the past and it doesn't always go as planned.
