disapointing R9

Anyone here shoot pool or fish? If so, do y'all use the same stick or pole.... nope. We all use what we are comfortable with. That don't mean one is better than the other. It just means one is better than the other for us individually. I used to shoot pool and made a good amount of money doing it back in the day. I used, and still have, a stick I won in a game against $30... for most it was a POS, ugliest beat up piece of firewood y'all ever seen. I named it "Booger".
When someone made fun of it I didn't beat them over the head with it.. I beat them on the table with it.
But, I didn't run into the bar claiming to be the best and owning the g.o.a.t. pool cue either.

Our forum is a community of folks that share a passion in airguns. We are from different parts of the country and the world. We are different shapes and sizes and many of us shoot for different reasons. But airguns are the glue.
I never owned an R9 and most likely never will... I prefer sub $300 but then again, I never owned a brand new car and never will either but, I get to work and the grocery store just as good as the guy next door. And I hit my targets just like everyone else in here.
So, how 'bout we give each other a little space and enjoy the knowledge and experience that makes the GTA what it is.

I’m thinking 75mm... I suppose if you can’t find 75mm pellets, you could use PerTaters.

If you want a bench rifle look at the 97k or Diana 460mag

Frank I will second what Mark just suggested the Diana D460 is a good looking well made pellet rifle and at 5'10" and 215 lbs I do not feel it is the least bit tiny. Here are the specs copied right from Pyrmyd web site. With a nice scope and rings it will weigh in at a hefty 9.5 lbs or more. If you lived closer I would offer you some trigger time with an accurate and powerful springer. Also with the Vortek spring kit that I added after the factory spring failed just a solid thump and no twang.

You can buy 1/4" black plastic sheeting on amazon for $20 and make butt pad spacers to shim it out to desired length.  Or make an extension of some sort.
From your previous posts, you're not looking for more power, just a longer stock. HW80, HW90 and Diana 460 all spell magnum airgun.

I did something similar to a QB78.  But heck, that's a $100 gun.  'fraid to start on any project when the price is ~5x as much.

  That's exactly how I felt when the mainspring became a 3 piece spring on my D460. What motivated me was a 3 day wait for the spring kit versus a two to 3 week round trip to a professional tuner. PS it worked out fine with me doing all the work. On the other hand, I had already taken my Gamo Whisper Fusion apart for a basic clean, deburr and lube when I installed a CDT 4G trigger. I wasn't nearly as nervous when it came time to tear down the D460 for similar attention.

i've been known to take them apart and tinker.  even with a pricier plinker.  but takes some time before I'm willing to void a warranty.
plus, i just don't have the tools for some guns.  if i'm gonna do more digging into them, might have to consider adding a few things to the workshop.

I just used a Pipe clamp that I can adjust to whatever rifle I'm working on at the time but I do keep eyeballing that spring compressor that pyramid has

You can always come up to Bothell - only a 5 hour drive .

What I like about Weihrauch guns is everything, but the spring/spring guide is very precision stuff.  Only fits together one way.  If something's not fitting just right - the mechanic has the problem, not the gun.

I would highly recommend a trigger tune too, having the trigger fire crisply is a big part of accuracy.
A trigger tune smooths out everything - likely is the equivalent of about 5,000 shots.

Weihrauch guns don't really need a tune for the average shooter, but if you want a sublime shooter a complete tune transforms the gun.

I've tuned about 30 Springers and about 20 PCP's, the less expensive ones require way more work and don't give back what a Weihrauch, Diana, AA, BSA or RAW can.  I always wanted to have a LGV, but never could pull the trigger because of the weight.

Yeah, my two dream additions are:
1) HW55 - Walnut stock - perfect condition
2) LGV Master-Pro - New

The thing is:
Most gun that I've been tempted to buy and bought that had know issues for me ... and I've sold them all.
I had thought the LGV would be a $100/150 loss, just to try it .

I assume Mike M. took care of any "needs".  It shoots beautifully.  No issues there.

well, thanks, i appreciate that feedback.  no, it's a fine shooter, just not a good fit for me, feels tiny and i have to scrunch up my shoulder just to touch the buttpad, even w/face in the scope.

after much consternation, i'm just gonna make it work.  I like the earlier idea of extending the stock.  no buttpad replacements i've tried does quite enough.  and really don't want 4 or 6" of padding.

i wouldn't even know what to aim for next, even if possible to "upgrade" from an R9, but a "push" might come up some day to trade.
