My new-to-me RWS34 and a question

This is a droop compensated scope mount for the RWS34, some call it a canted weaver/picatinny rail. Since most scopes don't have enough elevation to compensate for the barrel droop on most 34's. I use one on my 34 and it works great. Of course you need Weaver/picatinny scope rings to mount your scope onto this weaver style scope mount.

I don't have a camera or access, so I can't post a picture of my 34! I did find a picture of a very similar UTG non-canted 11mm to weaver adapter https://www.pyramydair.com/ and a post here on the GTA http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=10087.0;prev_next=next for pictures.

As I said these are similar and look much the same as the canted RWS 34 UTG model, being canted, the scopes eyepiece will be higher than the objective will be lower (canted). Just like the barrel on most 34's, the muzzle being lower than the breech, thus the scope is parallel to the bore when using the UTG RWS 34 11mm to weaver adapter.

Lizzie, what a lovely old 34!  1991, given the "flip switch" safety, (as Warren, aka "PostalCarrier" has dubbed them.  I'll bet it has the pre-T01 trigger, too.  Very, very nice, that one.  I is jealous.

PS - The 34 came out circa 1984/85 from what I recall.  Diana used the month/year (mm dd) stamping on the compression tube starting in the late 60's up until recently when it has been changed slightly.  No more nailing it down.  :-(  Most Diana owners use this as the build date.  (At least for the compression tube.)

I shot her a few times today- no scope or sights, but just an aim down the barrel (and yes, I hit the target ). I wouldn't be surprised, with the way it shoots, if it was never even broken in. It feels and shoots like a brand new gun. And btw, it certainly has some zip.

In response to a partial question in your original posting here; UTG is a brand name and I believe is fairly new. It is tied up with Leapers in some way I do not quite understand. I have ordered scopes and mounts advertised as UTG and received a Leapers product and vice versa. They seem to have the same products with the same specs but I cannot quite get the jist of it all. Duuuuuh!

Maybe it's like the relationship between RWS and Diana. Can anyone possibly enlighten us on this?

UTG is a Leapers trademark according to Leapers Inc. http://www.leapers.com/ read on right side column,  down the column, beside the Alert says 'UTG is one of Leapers’ trademarks.'

lizzy, heard from umarex today. the only explanation they had for my gun being marked 93 was that it was a mistake. those ARE in fact manufacture dates. i asked about made in west germany and as i thought. the may have  just used the W.G. parts well into the 1990s on some guns.
she suggested mine was made in 88....in all honesty it could be...but when i asked about the made in germany on an '88 she was at a loss.
well so there you have it. another mystery kinda sorta solved.

the plot thickens ....and perhaps solved... back in 94 or 95 or so i sent my 34 in for service, i don't remember what was wrong. MAYBE they replaced the compression tube. giving me back my original  barrel ,sights ,trigger,stock, and i just thought they replaced the spring. THAT would explain why my 1990 is stamped 93...never know for sure.

Wow- I'll bet you're right. It may very well have been easier for them to just slap a new tube on there rather than replacing the spring.

i love the simple design of the old 34's.  i especially wish they'd bring back the sights.  i like the plain jane, steel, hooded front sight.  rugged, simple, and functional.  i wonder who's idea it was to slap these big, fat "fiberoptic" front sights on everything

I don't know who it was, but I'll bet it had something to do with making it cheaper to manufacture.

I like the simplicity of the 34's as well. They are kind of the "Plain Jane" of the air rifles that I am familiar with, but they seem well-built and sleek. I was a little surprised at the length of this one, never having seen a 34 in person before. It's longer than my 435 and the FWB, but it doesn't seem to be any heavier, or at least there's not an appreciable difference when holding it.
