I missed the post where you named it, but what gun is it? Today looks like decent shooting weather and I really want to shoot some of the ammo I just cast. My skills are improving and my ammo looks great.

Hatsan mod25sc .177 vortex.

Ya, the wind here is everyday for months now 10+ mph

Now laye evening it has died down a lot to shoot longer but by then the suns got low.  So the past 2 days i just give ten or so shots when i can see way down there..lol even that blackened pettel tin on white paper kind blends in when it gets well shaded late afternoon    . Shooting opensight its nicer to have a good sight picture instrad of kinda gets to guessing at it.

I set up in my barn shop 30'  to shoot that pistol to get out of the afternoon wind. 

Im going to rearrange the lighting today to see if i can night shoot.   I jave a hard d time seeing a in dark/ poor lighting or  rain at night anyway

Sounds like a fun rig. I shoot in my attic when it's just too bad to shoot outside and it's been a while.

I just figured at 30"/10m. Thats too short for the rifles but just right for this pistol .. 

I did not want to build a mega backstop/ ttap for the stronger guns.

I only shoot my rifles in the attic if I want to do some chronograph testing but don't want to go outside. Otherwise it's my Daisy BB gun or my Bandit. My attic is just 32' long, so about 30' of actual shooting distance, with a really low ceiling. Someone left an old piece of galvanized steel up in the attic, looks like it came off of an old appliance, and I use that as a backstop with a box full of old magazines to trap the pellets. Had to rig up a few lights but it works in a pinch.

I've got towels on the line and I can see them whipping around in the wind here as well in Coastal Maine. This afternoon I'll try shooting at 10-30 yards and see how that goes. I'll be shooting .25 cal so should be better with the wind.

I got these hanging .   Thing is the wind is steady blowing  if any gaps between the gust its not muck maybe 9 mph ...lol.  I tried at 30 with .177 and up to a inch off. , My windage check at 10m was dead on the vertical line with 3 test shots.   

So its back in the barn shop today for some more pistol action... 👍


Got to say the mod25sc pistol is a big surprise..   a enjoyable gun for indoor bad weather, nothing on tv, just want to plink in doors at 10m..

I shot today, but nothing worth sharing. Tomorrow the winds are supposed to be pretty minimal so I'll be shooting, might do some casting as well. Gotta get ahead on my ammo!

Man I tried.  I’ve been working to better stabilize the soda straw barrel and shroud on my Crosman 2100.  I’m making progress and I’m encouraged that I’m on the right track.  Shooting 8gr Umarex hollow points, 8 pumps, I’m getting 1”  groups at twenty yards. I’ve got some ideas I want to try to improve the air sealing efficiency, further stabilize the action and beef up the pump arm.  The goal is 1/2” groups at twenty yards and anything north of 715 fps.  Today the wind was gusting from several directions and totally throwing me off.  But when the wind lies down it is showing some potential.

I come to the conclusion that these longer pellets caych the wind and get pished more then the stubby crosmans.

Just that little extra surface area makes a difference in hoe much i get pushed off.

Left to right .. cphp, norma , sig..


Then some 30y with the sig and r9

These are the result.  Each target has two groups on it.  I usually economize on targets by holding off the black dot by one mil dot.  I’ll shoot 1 mil above, below, or to the side. The circled group on the left target is five CPHPs at thirty yards  with two shots in one hole about a half mil to the left of the main cluster.  The circled group on the right hand target is the same pellet and range but four pellets are in one hole.  I think my problem is scope cant.  When I’m careful to keep the cross hairs level it will shoot to point of aim.  But the slightest inattention and I’m tossing pellets to the left or right canting the rifle.

What thinks y’all?

That makes me sound like a spendthrift  on my targets.lol.👍. Heck i just thought i was cheap..

Now i got to ask, do you use new plates or eat from them first then make up targets?

I cleaned the hat25 barrel and sat at the bench figuring id shoot some blow it out rounds , so i had this at 30 y.   It was hitting right but unlike sam above i was not conserving the target cardboard  ..lol

I did not think it was that bad seeing i was set up indoor 10m with it and hit at 30 that well. Another surprise.

Ruff says he won't mind licking a plate clean for me to then use as a target.  Claims he can be real good at it .
