I use string trimmer line.
Try making a slit near the end to insert the patch.

Google "Crown Saver" see if you could use one of those, Trimmer line as mentioned works also. You Tube will show you how to make it work.

I do not have one,.. but I really like the Patch Worm concept,.. as in pushing the patch outwards. I made a home made one and have some rods.
I do use a straw for crown protection when doing a pull through.

I have been using a Patchworm kit, basically a pull through and comes with several different size caliber sizing beads as it has a glued plastic stop so one can clean many different caliber sizes. You can purchase felt buttons that has a hole in it and these do a great job of cleaning the barrel soaked in Balistol. You can purchase VFG Weapon Care felt buttons in 500ct bulk with the holes from eBay. Mine are .22. Patchworm sells these felt buttons but in smaller quantities. After using the felt buttons, usually just 5-6 I then run a couple of dry patches thru. If your rifle has an LDC, use a straw to bypass baffles.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions. I already use the grass trimmer line and I use a lighter to burn and make a lump on one end to stop patches from coming off. I wanted a rod because I wamt to lap my barrel.

You can't go wrong with a Dewey rod. Probably the best. Might as well get a really good one to start.
