Nice on the cost. That seems like bargain basement prices from what I have heard. Keep that one.
Location, location, location!

From people we know that own dogs and cats, veterinary expense is crazy up here by me. Rambo's visit would have probably been in the 300's around here.

if you'll remember, the local rescue center boards Rambo for $13 a day if we have to go out of town and leave him.

Ole boy across the road got up this morning and went to work at 6:00am.
And sure enough, he let the dogs out and they been out all day. So far they've stayed on their own side of the road but we are watching.
This saga ain't over.... We gave the the vet all the info we had on the pack dogs. Not sure if she intends to take action but, she loves Rambo just like we do and she was not happy.. at all.

GRRRRRRRR.
This hits way to close to home.   If you want me to delete this I will.
A "neighbor" who happens to be a second cousin 1/4 mile away, has a Son, who brings a Doberman from the City out to the "sticks" and lets him run.... well this is not "Free Range".
That dog has came on my property and "aggressively" chased my Grand-daughters into the house... who were playing in my own back yard. Think about this... I have ACREAGE and this was in my yard.  :o
The C.Sucker did it to me twice.
The first time I showed dominance by yelling. He backed off.  The second time was even closer and he charged me... so I I went inside and got a "noise maker" then fired a 12g in the air.
Both times I called my "Cuz" ...."keep that Bastage home!"

Next time....

It's a vicious DOG... I am protecting my loved ones on my dirt... RIP

I get it Scott, I do. But let's let that be about as hard we lean on those forum rules....  ;)
We all know it only takes one reply to open those doors.
Again, my PM is open if we can't control the emotion... and it's quite understandable.

Glad to hear 'BO going to be on the mend and outlook is good. My vets an old friend that I've been using for 40 years and it still cost me $124 for 3 prescriptions for 2 of my dogs. That's about a once every other month thing.

That dog has came on my property and "aggressively" chased my Grand-daughters into the house... who were playing in my own back yard.
>:(

I had a similar incident about 6-7 years ago. A neighbor who lives behind us, through a small stretch of woods and about 50ft down, had a dog that would bark at us every time we were in our back yard. With the woods and distance between us, it wasn't a big deal. However, one day, that dog decide to extend her territory. She left her owner's property, came up the hill and through the woods, got onto my property and came to about 60ft from me. She growled and showed her teeth.
Luckily, for me and her, that the wife saw this and ran after him. She grabbed her by the collar and apologized as they started back to their property. I told her that she needs to do something about that dog because there would be consequences should this happen again. She knows I have small children, and being a mother to even younger children herself, I knew she understands my being very upset.
I'm not sure if they had set up an invisible fence because this never happened again. I still see the dog(Lola) and there would be some barking when she sees me in the backyard, but there isn't an aggressive stance or growl.

I love dogs... all dogs.. I believe I can think like dog.
But some dogs are just wired wrong... some how.
I have only been bit twice in 58 years... and both times it was my fault because, in hind sight, I did not think like a dog.
I bet if you show the pack you are the Alpha Male... regardless how. Things will be OK in the future.

I do this..
I'll ride my atv down the road and they all 3 come out barking and chasing. I stop the atv and stare them down. They stop, look at me and head towards the house. But the minute I move they turn and come again. They never get close enough to bite... maybe because they know I bite back.

Bill,
Glad to hear Rambo will be okay. When I saw the subject, I thought the news was going to be a lot worse.  As a dog lover I've always enjoyed hearing about Rambo's antics. He's a good boy.
Take care.

Thatís a tough one.  My heart goes out to Rambo.  Flash and Flytrap stick together like glue and none of the local dogs will mess with them.  We are lucky.  Maybe you could try and get the word out on the local grapevine and hope the owners will be shamed into controlling their dogs better.

Glad to hear Rambo is not as bad as first thought and the vet got him fixed up for a very reasonable price. Agree location and vets that care for the animals not their pockets are sorely lacking these day. Seems you have a good one in your area.

I know here their is laws that require a dog owners to keep their dog on their property at all times or on a leash. I have a fenced yard my pit/lab mix stays in but recently there has bean a coupe dogs that the owners leave for work and just let the dogs out for the day such as your case. They have been coming onto my property line and driving my dog nuts. He has not figured out he can clear my fence but if he put any forward motion behind his jumping up he would easily since he gets all but his hind legs above the 4ft high chain link fence height. I have contacted the local police/animal control about it and they told me that if I can catch the dogs on my property they will come pick them up from me. Covid has all but eliminated actual animal control response in my area so it up to me to be the control officer.

They are not aggressive to me so I can get them on a leash but really just want the owners to assume responsibility for their animals. It has been going on for about 2 months now and I am out of patience so once I catch these dogs they will be picked up and a complaint will be filed with a warrant issued for the arrest of the owners. I am done playing and mean business. I am not a vengeful person but their total lack of concern has run its course with me at this point.

I hope you get thing worked out for the better rather than the worse and soon.

Glad to hear he is on the mend Bill. As others have said, the vet bill would have $300-400 here. You got a good one there.
And I hope you get the situation with your neighbors dogs straitened out.

Thanks again guys...
Rambo is doing well. Normal activities but he is limping around a bit where he got that big old rabies shot needle stuck in his hip.
Betty Lou cleaned his wound this morning and it's still draining. That's what we want to see. He's actually eating up the extra attention. He's such a punk.
He's on this new thing now... When we let him out he paces the full length of the front deck and barks towards the neighbors house where the pack lives as if he's telling them that he's planning his revenge.

That he is.....
Although, there is one picture I just can't get out of my mind...
As we were holding him for the vet to give him that HUGE rabies shot in his hip, he looked at me with the saddest eyes and his lower lip quivered. I never want to see that again.

In a vision, like a daydream that filters through your mind, I saw Jesus coming closer holding all my hopes combined. He spoke with great compassion as He put one hand on me and in His other hand He held what I could never see.

He said, "Pieces, pieces, I've got all the pieces to your life. A thousand tiny fragments of every single day, I can put them all together and there'll never be another one who can"
