I feared this rifle would be unobtainable by the time I could afford one. I have a rifle on my bucket list that is next up that will take its place. I have been let down several times, but have been blessed several times. C’est la vie~

Shhhhhhhhhhh! It’s been that price the whole time everyone else was getting them for $495... and actually I wanted one long before all the hubbub happened these past several weeks. It’s just I hit my 2 rifle/12 month limit way too soon.

Lol, I hear you. I was watching these when Champion dropped them to $570, then omigosh $495! I read up on the FWB all I could and ended up buying a smooth shooting HW35E in .22 instead. Today at my 13 yard indoor range it was making a nice ragged hole with Crosman premiers. Doing better than my FTT’s.

Life maybe short, but it sure is wide!

Mmmmmmmmm..... FWB Sport arrived last night.

Very elegant looking rifle.

Fit and finish is the best I've personally seen.

The stock has nice grain and stain. Love the chequering.

Cleaned the bore of a fair amount of crud. Dabbed a little moly here and there.

Crappy 10.3 grn pellet in the breach.

Ready, Aim, Fire!

Cocking effort is pretty high, Reminds me of a Hatsan 95.

Shot cycle very quick and decisive. Not a bad thing.

Trigger let off also quick, and crisp, will have to be careful here.

And then........That Last "Around the Universe" chord in all its glory.

The TWANG!

So loud my mouth fell open and I burst out laughing. It makes my R9 sound like a one year old throwing toilet rolls at a woolly sheep.

Hopefully better things to come with break in.

That's really interesting. Mine has none of that, and I was really concerned that it would need work. Gotta wonder what the variations in manufacturing tolerances for the spring guides was. I do hope it works out for you, but if it doesn't I'd probably be interested in a second one.

Could also be variation in the spring diameter. Actually, I think it’s more likely that there will be variation in how a spring is wound and set versus how a spring guide is turned/cut or comes out of a mold. End result is the same though, twang and vibration...

Wow. Mine has NO TWANG. Like none. Like it’s abnormally absent ANY twang. A sharp firing noise and that pellet is gone. Very .22lr like. That said Spring noise doesn’t generally bother me.

Cocking effort loosens up. It’s middle of the road cocking effort in my opinion. I don’t think I am too sensitive to cocking effort though until it gets really heavy or has a short lever. That said if I transition from any of the more powerful springers to an HW30/R7 I basically just about tear the barrel off at first.

Mine continues to be a tack driver.

Up date for me on the Sport.

After ordering a second Sport and missing the boat before they ran out with Champions Choice, I placed an order for my second Sport with AoA and just got a notice that it's on the way. Will be using o 2 as an iron sight shooter. That's how I justified it, anyway, but the truth is probably more that I wanted to grab another one while I still can.

I was very close to Buying a sport a year ago but early testing results from Tom Gaylord and others held me back. ARH made a tighter piston seal for this gun mentioned in link below.

I find it interesting that some are reporting much nicer shot cycles with less or minimal twang. Poor fitting spring guide (loose) was

Did the FWB sport production evolve over time? I think it might be an idea to see if there is a range of serial numbers with worse or better shooting behavior.

Serial 000379 for mine. I was wondering about different production batches.

In preparation for getting mine, I bought an ARH seal just in case... but it doesn't seem to be an issue for me.

I too had put a lot of weight on Tom’s review. Maybe the lack of success for this model can be attributed to bad luck. What if Tom got a good copy, would we all be lavishing praise on FWB?

For certain FWB made a mistake in letting some rifles leave the factory with poor fitted springs and a high price tag. Too many products with great potential fail due to poor execution, case in point the newer Walther LGV - an awesome gun that gained popularity at the end of its life.

It does appear now that earlier models like Tom’s #000043 were not the best that FWB produced.

Happy buyers so far appear to be in the high 300 range or so. Which appears to be the majority of the recent buyers.

Happy for you lucky guys and gals that discovered wonderful copies of this very nice Sports Gun.

Mine is the serial number before you, and by your account and my observations they are totally different. They mystery deepens. I wonder if it's like Marty said and there's variation on the springs... maybe the ends are closed to slightly different diameters and then it's just luck which way yours got installed, but I'm not sure that would cause accuracy issues.

FWIW, I'm shooting H&N FTT 8.64's out of mine. Doubt that will do anything about the twang, but might help the accuracy. Also, if you open it up and need a seal, let me know. I ordered one from JM in a "prepare for the worst" mindset, but it doesn't look like I'm gonna need it.

I would imagine they produce singular long spring sections and simply cut them to length automatically so I would guess based on that cut location you could very well have a differing end tightness. Totally a guess on my part of course. All I can speak to is mine is right in the same serial realm as everybody else and mine has NO spring noise. My Air Arms ProSport has more spring noise and that’s not exactly a twangy gun.
