Competitions? Matches? clubs? How to find?
« on: January 08, 2021, 02:21:18 AM »
Been looking at field target for a long time, and it looks like great fun, but what has kept me from diving in is finding out where to compete. I live in middle Georgia, and I have not found anything in my state, even my region looks completely barren. So far, I discovered a competition way down in Florida and another on the complete opposite side of North Carolina. Both would entail driving over eight hours and getting a hotel. How can I find somewhere more local?

Start here https://airgunwarriors.com/community/field-target/field-target-clubs-across-america/#post-1278

Next dig around the AAFTA home site and see what they have listed for local activity or closest  ???

Also check with local sportsman's clubs in your area, they may have something going on , but not advertised much beyond their calendar of events on their website.

I'm like you William. I'd sure like to give it a try, but the closest I could find from me is about 700-800 miles, one way. One of the drawbacks to living a long way from anywhere.

I am sure jealous of that at this moment. Lived in a secluded part of middle Georgia for my entire life, then last week discovered the snotty nose brat down the road talked my 91-year-old neighbor out of his house and farm. The kid's name is still not on the property record, but he is dividing it up and selling it off to his buddies as fast as he can. So, much for living in the countryside.

Living in Nebraska, you must have some ELR ranges available in your area. My long target range was on the above mentioned property, unfortunately.

You might have to start your own, which is what I am considering doing.

Start my own? I don't think you understand. When I say a long way from anywhere, I mean it. 100 miles drive to take my wife to a movie, 100 miles to a mall, 6 hour drive one way to the closest professional sport, of any kind. Cell phone reception is spotty, at best. That huge red area on the map in Nebraska with no cell phone reception, that's where I live. What very few people are in my area, they all laugh at my LGVs and HWs. This is .223 in the rifle rack ranch country.
