2400KT / Pellets

My typical pellet weight that i use on my 1377's are 7.4 grain... Crosman super points and destroyers. For my new 2400KT, i want to go with a heavier pellet but not sure how heavy is too heavy with the 14.6" LW barrel? I will be going for accuracy at 25 yards. i have a tin of CPHP's in 7.9 grain that i originally planned to test but with C02, maybe a little heavier? I also have a small tin of gamo rockets in 9.6 grain, but not very many of those. They didnt do well in my 1077 so i abandoned them.

Try JSB 8.4 GR...I found these to be very accurate and more stable than the lighter pellets....I have a Crosmod .177 that I shoot JSB 8.4 and it has a custom 20" barrel. Very accurate....and an 850 Air Magnum .177 CO2.

I remember telling you to go for 10g AA or JSB pellets in your other thread.

Thanks Richard... looking at them now  . Couldnt remember which thread it was mentioned and threads here move really fast, sorry about that  . I have read through dozens of threads in the last few days and they are all kinda jumbled together in my old brain, lol. The hollow points at 10.34g look good but looking to see if they carry pointed in that grain or close to it.

after searching prices and looking at JSB pellet types... ordered the Match Diablo Hades 10.34g hollow point pellets. i have never used a .177 pellet this heavy before, so this will be interesting. also... i will try them in my 1077. maybe these will help with accuracy on that one?

Depending on o power level/range hollow points tend to get a mind of their own. I would stick to domes period....you can take a squirrel down at 70 yards with a CO2 rifle that shoots in the 600's...

stock level 2400KT with 14.6" LW barrel... no power mods... 25 yards, no further, targets only. this will definitely be trial and error.

Thanks  . i ordered those and also the 8.26g pointed ones. with what i already have... i should be all set for this 2400KT and be able to find one of them that my 1077 will like.

Have never had success with pointed pellets.

Wadcutters were my go-to pellets though for hunting rats with my 2100 and 1377 when I was still in Asia.

There was a locally-made pellet brand in the PI, which was known as the Hammerheads and Eagleheads---they were very accurate.

Sadly, the factory closed shop.

This is what my 2400KT with a 24" .177 Crosman barrel (the one on the right with a 1" all-delrin UK-made Matt Winser LDC) does at 38 yards (or was it meters?) with JSB 10.34G Heavies:







During this shot I used my 6-24x40 Bushnell Elite AO 1' tube  mildot scope. Very nice optics, but they are now defunct.

OT: I had my 2400KT parts reblued. When the 1st batch came out so good I had the rest undergo the same treatment:





Yes, I am a sucker for details; I have the eye for it, modesty aside.

Although CCS guns are passable in looks I never did like the finish on them---too dull and unappealing, IMHO.

I don't like their grip frames either; i.e., casting marks with flaky paint, hence I had them refinished/powder-coated in satin black:





As I recall, from the Crosman Custom Shop I spent close to $400, excluding the cost of the guns, for the pair of 2400KTs, as I had to hire the service of Airgun Exporter, aka Vincent.

WOW Rick!!! Those powder coat and blueing finishes are BEAUTIFUL!!!  You also have a really nice collection of very nice LDC's going on there . I just have a 5" TKO on my 1322, and another on this 2400KT.

That is some serious penetration with the JSB 10.34g pellets! I doubt i will get that kind of Penetration with the 14.6" LW barrel, but at 25 yards... should be very decent. I learned in my days of research and reading, that when Crosman does a CCS 2400 with an 18" or longer barrel, they put in the power valve. Under 18" comes with the match/target grade valve. I dont know what the FPS difference is, just know that it is done for the longer barrels.

I never tried wad cutters. I dont do any kind of hunting. My pesting is non lethal and only needed on a random basis. Mostly... I shoot pop cans and targets. I use the pointed pellets in my modded 1322 and 1377. I have amazing success with them in those two guns... extremely accurate at 25 yards. My unmodded 1377 has the same awesome accuracy with the Destroyers but didnt like the pointed. It is so odd how each gun has it's own personality where pellets go. The pointed JSB pellets I ordered are just an option for my 1077. I searched all over online for the JSB domed 8.44g pellets that Rick mentioned above, but these are very popular it seems and every where they were listed... "out of stock". Those would have been my preference, and will just have to keep checking for them to be in stock. With what I have, and what is coming... I will have plenty of options to try when i finally go back to the 1077 once I have the 2400KT dialed in.

I will start with the domed JSB heavies and go from there. Finally having a Chrony will help. Accuracy is my goal, so I will start heavy and work my way down. Surely, one of these will be my 2400's happy place.

Though the talk was clearly on .177 2400KTs, I ended up testing and subsequently using H&N sniper Magnums, JSB Monsters, and JSB Ultra Shocks in my .22 2400KT with an 18" barrel out to 40 yards.  Sure, trajectory requires some holdover but squirrels die just as surely at 40 yards when hit in the nugget with a Sniper Magnum as they do at 8 yards with a RWS Meisterkugeln wadcutter.  I kept the 2400KT down to a 25 yard range until pests warranted more distance.  You can say I was surprised until I used a ballistic calculator.

At a measly 25 yards, grab what is accurate and stop worrying.

It cost me a mere P1,000/$20, IIRIC.

It was done by one of the best gunsmiths in my city.

The powdercoat (done by one the biggest powdercoating company in the PI) was just P150/$3 for the 2 grip frames and 2 barrel bands.

That was years ago but even if you double the amount it would still come out as super cheap.
