Winchester 1977 XS Questions
I picked up a Winchester 1977 XS at the local Academy today.
I have been reading the other 880 thread but I still have some questions .
1. What are you using to lube those square slides for the pump arm?
I have some dry lock lube also another 3 in 1 dry lube or also some spray silicone lube.
2. Are you doing the tape mods on the barrel where it goes into the front sight and also on the
middle of the barrel to support it?
Thank George

I just use 30 wt. non detergent motor oil on all the pivot points of the pump assembly, and the felt pad.
I have’nt felt the need to do the tape mod to the bbl. as the 1977xs has a bbl. support, and accuracy has been top notch with mine as is.

Thanks Buddy
I have the 30wt nd oil so will use it. There seems to be a little lube on the slides out of the box.
Good to know that it has the barrel support already

Yeah, I put a drop or two of oil on the raceway where the nylon (square) wheels travel too.
I tried the cc mod to the trigger like I do on my 880’s, but did’nt get as good results as with the 880’s on the winchester.
The trigger assembly spring seems to be stiffer on the Winchester, or maybe it’s the extra valve pressure?
Anyway, I wound up taking the credit card out
and leaving the trigger stock.
It’s smoothed up quite a bit from a LOT of shooting over time on it’s own.
For speed, my Winchester has proven to be the equal of my 397, and even shoots a bit faster with some pellets.
Pumps a lot easier too for the same performance. With one of Geo’s ldc’s on it, it’s a squirrel hunting machine!

I've been using 30w silicone lube on mine so far. Fine so far. I also like the Winchester 4x32AO scope on it. I like how it can range down to 15FT.
