I skimmed the thread and didn’t see it, what is the twist rate of the 6mm barrel? Is it a pb barrel?

It's a liner from TJ, 1-10 twist.  Hopefully I'll have a report early '22

Slight change...  I was really thinking about going total ham on this build, but I'm only going half-ham.  LOL 

I was really, REALLY considering trying a 5R rifled barrel, but I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.  Maybe someday I, or someone else will give it a go.  Anyhoo, I did order a McGowan barrel in 6mm, 1-10 twist.  This one is 1.060" O.D. as per Doug's request.  It's going to be 26" when finished.  I didn't want to go TOO long.  I'm excited to get the barrel in, but it'll be a bit.  McGowan says at least 6 weeks.   

I also realized I was missing a .241 sizing bushing, so I ordered one.  Just in case. I have no idea how this barrel is going to slug, so I want to be prepared. 

I bought a Precision Ball Bearing Trigger from RMP Airguns.  I'm impatiently waiting on their chassis as well.

Anyhoo, that's all for now.  I'll update when I have something juicy to report.

Fashionably late with reading your build(labor of love) on your 6mm Talondor.
I was curious as to how the new upgrades particularly the  McGowan barrel in 6mm, 1-10 twist worked out.

Don't know yet!  I will absolutely report back when she's all assembled and I've been able to do some 100 yard shooting.  I'm going to cross my fingers!!

Just got a notification the other day that the McGowan barrel has been shipped!  As soon as I get it, I'll be sending it off to Doug, so he can machine it to fit the Condor SS frame.  I'll slug the barrel and size some slugs for him so he can do his thing.   

The 2nd 6mm mold from Arsenal came in a while ago, and I'll send it to Erik to work his magic along with my .172 mold (whenever that comes in).

*knock on wood*  It looks like 2022 is shaping up to be the year of the airgun!!  I think very nearly all of my projects will be done this year!  Hopefully all of them will be done this year...  So I can finally just enjoy them!

I sized about 100 or so slugs for test/tune

I still have to send the mold off to Erik to HP for me.  I'll give him a ring tomorrow.

Okay, wow... It's been a while for this project too!  LOL  Oh boy.  TWO YEARS?!  Jeeze.  Well, I guess I'm glad no major movement has happened with this one.  Making some changes.  LOL

I've ordered a 32" "blank".  Finished to a 1.060" O.D. as per Doug's request.  Again, I'm going to ask to keep as much of that length as possible as he's machining the barrel down.

The other change is, I'm going to run a Texan shroud, and a DonnyFL Texan LDC adapter.  I can run the Ronin from my .177 CondorSS/Texan "build" to keep the muzzle blast down.  The Ronin is for a .25/.30, so there will be plenty of bore clearance, for a .243 (6mm).   

The barrel length I originally chose for this build has been nagging at me for two years, but I didn't do anything about it.  The barrel blank was kinda pricey (even two years ago), and was ordered, and it's already with Doug.  But after confirming no machining has been done to the original blank yet, AND after a bull session with Monkeydad1969, I decided to say "F-it" and go kinda ham on this one.  I would have liked to do a 34" barrel, but that would have stretched the capabilities of the barrel shop, and the cost would have been too much (i.e. the cost difference between a 32" and a 34" blank)...  So 32" it is.  Hopefully now, with a 32" long barrel, I'll be able to get real close to Bob's calculated theoretical maximum energy for this caliber now.  I think it's right at 140 fpe?

Anyhoo, I'll update this as I get things done. 

Oh- and I sent my mold off to Erik.  The HP looks AMAZING.  I can't wait to cast some HP slugs!

In case anyone is wondering, no- the 26" blank won't go to waste.  I have a Brod build I'm doing, and it'll be going in that.  It'll be much more work considering how big the blank is (OD-wise), but at least I won't have to pay for a completely new blank.  Plus I can have it machined PERFECTLY to fit in the breech of the Brod.

Small update.  I got the new barrel in a few months ago, then life happened, and I forgot about it!  LOL  Anyhoo, I'm sending the new 32" blank off to Doug on Monday, along with a AF Texan SS muzzle brake, so Doug can machine up an adapter and do whatever is needed to the barrel to fit the muzzle brake.

Again, I'll update again, once I get all the parts in, and get this rifle together and shooting.  This long saga of a build will soon be done!  2025 is my year!  LOL  Pretty sure I've said this every year for the past 5 years!  LOL

Doug's got the barrel, still waiting on the Texan muzzle brake to be delivered (had to send two boxes), and I was FINALLY able to get another base/mount for my UTG over-bore bipod!  I'm stoked!  So now I can run that over-bore bipod on my Noble .172, 6mm and 7mm!!

The Texan muzzle brake was delivered the same day as the barrel, just later in the evening. 

Now that Doug has all the parts, the wait begins (again).  LOL
