 Saturday update, mowed, saw 2 rabbits run off the property. Armed myself and continued with shrub trimming, but the bunny brigade split, they may be back in force today My 50+ year old wheelbarrow needs some TLC soon also. Will be Grilling and chilling with the remaining parental unit.

 Watching Monaco F1 at the moment.. then Indy 500... when that "roundy-round" Hoosier Momma's favorite NASCAR "soft drink" race starts I will go out.

Original plan a project I recently picked up- a "vintage" Mo-Chief field mower manufactured by Willard in the early 70s.  It is powered by an 8hp B&S engine, 319cc-worth.  It sat for a decade if not more, but was run dry before it was "parked".  I need a float bowl gasket; but everything else has been a matter of "clean real good, blow out with compressed air, and lubricate everything that moves".  Well, I was going to cut out a float gasket out of some gasket material but Sonja said we're doing a float today.  I think I had the inflatable kayak, pump, cooler, and dry-bag loaded before she finished putting on her bathing suit.  I opted to order a carb rebuild kit for the B&S 8hp engine.  Priorities, ya know?


Side note: that 8hp engine is 319cc.  If you opted to buy a modern 319cc engine, the various brands run between 12 and 19hp.  On the other hand, this ancient B&S engine will probably outlast any modern engine by a factor of 2:1; it is WAY overbuilt.

Mornin y’all!  I survived another Memorial Day weekend! That’s a benchmark for park rangers.

I slept in my own bed for the first time since February.  Didn’t sleep well but then I never do.  But it’s a step forward!  My recovery is slow but it is happening.

Plans for today are sloth and dispensation followed by a nap!

Sitting on the gun deck right now with the loaded Hatsan Flash ready at hand.  If any squirrels make an appearance it will only be a brief one.

Mornin y’all!  I feel like something that was stepped in and then scraped off on the curb.

Nothing on my dance card today.  I hope to finish chronographing the Hatsan Flash-R.  At some point I have to drive the memsahib into Hooterville and do some grocery shopping.  It’s been over a month since we last went and the menu is getting pretty monotonous around here.  Until she gets up and moving I’m going to sit on the gun deck with a pipe, a PCP and a cup of cocoa!

Going to try and scrub up the oil staining the plywood floor of the airgun shed.😠 It's from the chainsaw bar oil leaking out of the chainsaws.😡

I’d do it the lazy man’s way Robert.  Treat the rest of the floor with oil for an attractive oiled wood finish!

Yup... just move the chainsaw around from time to time until the entire floor is stained evenly...

I have no problem with the oil on the floor but SWMBO demands it be cleaned up.😡😡😡 I'm thinking of just getting some clay kat litter and spreading it over the oil stains. Problem is that the other gas powered equipment we store in the shed leak also. If it was just the saws I'd just drain the bar oil out after I'm done using them.

use the lid from a plastic tote to place the chainsaw it on. that would catch the oil...

Need to make a quick run into the city this morning then I might go run the dirt roads on the Gator some if the rain holds off. I'll take one of the chopper break barrels and maybe a P-17 for some impromptu plinking.

We use this method for our chainsaws.  Granted, it won't staunch the machinery smells.... my shop smells like a blend of Ballistol, Hoppes, Brakleen, 40:1 and 50:1 premix, bar oil, sawdust, and...  Mint?  Yeah, we have a bunch of "volunteer" mint sprouting up all around so it is getting put to good use whenever Sonja is rooting new cuttings.


Side Note: we planted mint along some of the field edges and it is slowly overtaking the poison oak. 


Our plans involve going to Charlottesville and eating at a dining establishment with purportedly the best burger in VA.  They also have an expansive local beer listing.

Mornin y’all.  Up on the gun deck with an NVD.  Nothing stirring yet.  I can hear Oak toads and splay footed toads croaking in the trees all around me.  Down by the river I hear green peepers, bronze frogs, and ornate chorus frogs.  It certainly isn’t quiet here at night!  Bugs are swarming the lighted screen of my tablet as I type. Kinda creepy!

Good Morning, I got up at 5:00 this morning, I feel like I slept pretty well.

I let Hank out to do his business and he has come back in and gone back to bed now.

 It is 61.5°F with 82% humidity on my back deck at 5:22 AM

 I'm not sure what I am going to do today. I am going to finish my coffee as I think about it.
