I missed feeling it because I was driving at the time. When the Landers 7.3 quake happened I was at work 48 miles from the epicenter in the Produce Department and the Liquor Department sounded like awesome wind chimes. Only a couple of bottles jumped though. More Katsup, Mayo, Jelly, Jam decided to end it all. In Produce I just had a few apples, oranges, onions and potatoes to pick up. We opened on time an hour and three minutes later.I was filling the Cabbage and saw a crack travel though the floor tile across Produce starting near my feet to the freezer section about 25' away. The store was only a couple months old and the crack revealed the compaction was not done very well IMO. The crack got a little longer when a Theater was going up behind the store and the ground compaction was being done for it. It was a very narrow crack and didn't get "fixed" until the store had new flooring put in that covered it up years later. It was memorable. The Chain's Yucca Valley store that was closest had piles in the isles.

Speaking of quakes the only one I ever experienced in AR was while I was sleeping right through it. Never felt the house shake or heard the earth plates shifting deep in the ground but my ex did and said it was very intense.

Went to bed at 1:30 AM and got up at 7:30 this AM.Right before I went to bed I took apart a heater completely, checked the three infrared heating elements for continuity, all three were dead so, I ordered new ones online, and filter for the same. The filter was missing my wife and I have no recollection of where it went. This morning I am going to give that heater a thorough cleaning and put it back together to the point of just being able to install the heating elements when they arrive. It is 45°F, supposed to get to 62° today, maybe I will get to work on the '69 GMC. I am not making it my main priority since most of the day laying under it would be a bit on the cool side, but if I don't get to it today I will have to wait a few days. It is supposed to rain Sunday and Monday. That means if I don't just do it I need to drag my cherry picker around back and put it away out of the weather. I would rather finish the job, but I hate to lay on the asphalt when it's below 60°F and there is not going to be much time over 60°F today. I may just have to talk myself into doing it despite the extra aches and pains. Wow, I have gotten wimpy, LOL. The thing is I enjoy wrenching with perfect weather conditions. I think I have talked myself into just doing it today. Time will tell! I have LOTS of other things to do, choices, choices, choices...
