Yeah, we are kinda back woods around here. Only black water goes to the septic. Grey water (sinks, laundry and shower) goes to an open drain system.. Luckily most of that is a straight run of 2 1/2" pipe and I can snake back up into it for 40 or 50 feet.
Previous residents must have been bad to pour grease down the kitchen drains. Alot of it. Boiling water and repeated snaking was the only way we got it cleaned out. What a nasty mess.
It don't surprise me much... I knew a few of the hang arounds that used to occupy this place. They weren't the brightest folks I've ever known....

Sitting here waiting to see if the house will get rattled with this weather. I'll continue to do the indoor clean up for now, still haven't found the elusive battery charger to the depth finder, but did find some other things so that is a plus.

We grew up that way in an old, I mean very-very old farmhouse in NJ on 19.5 acres. All our plumbing except the kitchen sink went to the septic tank. The kitchen sink went into a 4” pipe that exited 20’+ from the kitchen window behind the sink into a 10’ downhill trench I’d periodically have to re-trench. It’s also where I honed my shooting skills… I had a Marlin .22LR as a preteen through 16 years old… after school I would turn the water on slow and drop a few Cheerios down the drain until the rats came out of the high weeds at the end of the trench. 10 yards from the kitchen sniper-hide and you had to be fast on the trigger.

Here, everything goes into the septic tank. 12 years and we’ve had nearly zero issues except the occasional hair-stops and foreign objects- popsicle sticks, straws, bobby-pins, etc. I got all those out last night, just a straw & hair, actually. The rest has been grease with a hint of my wife’s shampoo & conditioner from washing her hair in the sink.

We don't get many rats, if any, around here. I think the snakes control them. Lots and lots of rat snakes... they call them chicken snakes because they are often found in the large commercial chicken houses that are everywhere here. They grow pretty large and are sketchy looking because of the skin patterns. They are also tree climbers and they patrol the nests in the trees.
They native locals around here tell us not to kill them but we do anyways.... I don't like snakes and I don't need their help controlling pests.

Daylight is just now breaking in.. think I'll get dressed and take the dogs for a walk about to see if there is any damage from the storms that blew through over night.

Rambo was slow getting up this morning. He stayed in the bedroom until Betty Lou got up around 6am. Boss got up with me around 4:30. I put food in both bowls and I knew Boss ate and went outside. When Betty Lou got up she asked me why I didn't put food in Rambo's bowl...  "BOSS !!!   YOU FAT LITTLE PIG!!!"  She just laid there and looked at me with those harbor seal eyes as if to say... "You snooze, you lose".

Looks like all is good... no damage or fallen trees/branches. There sure is alot of water out there. The whole place is soggy under our feet. Rambo wasn't happy at all because he couldn't do his typical stop, drop and roll. Boss was real happy because she truly is part harbor seal.

Think I'm gonna gas up the Titan and go do some snooping around at the second hand stores and such. It's a rare occasion that Betty Lou has opted to stay home. It's really too wet to do anything else.
Maybe she'll feel inclined to go hang out in the bar and drink a few beers later.

I still have a roof this morning, one tornado warning is enough. No tree damage to clean up, just a wet, soggy yard. I'll run up the post office and pick up the mail before I have to use a pry bar to get it out of the box. Cook meals and do laundry for the most part. Clean up the computer room some more. Just taking the day as it comes.

Well the doctor injected cortisone into both knees, man did that ever hurt, I should of brought a stick to bite down on! But I feel much better, He said you're not 20 years old anymore, knee pads are a must!

Took a leisurely ride over to Greenville, about 30 miles one way. Walked through TSC and Walmart. Nothing jumped into the shopping cart so I got out cheap. The second hand joint was closed and I didn't feel like sitting in the truck for 30 minutes waiting for them to open. On the way back to town I remembered that I needed to renew my truck insurance so I went to see my little insurance girl. I paid the Titan off last month so I don't need to carry the full coverage anymore. She worked her magic and got me a bunch of discounts with Progressive. Both trucks are legal to drive and it cost me $33 today and $32 a month. We can work with that. I told her I could afford to buy her a hamburger.

It's ground work and I'll be doing it on the black top, so I am going to wait for the sun to warm it up some. I will move the pickup to a spot that has been warmed up, get out my Cherry Picker, drag it around front and get after it. I know from past experience that it may go quick and easy or I may have to fight with one bolt for a while. The last time was easy but I had the front clip off at the time, 8 years ago.

I did the disk brake conversion on a 68 c-20 back in the late 90s. Hugh improvement over those tiny 11 inch drums. My son swopped out the rear end to have 3.73 gears and 13 inch drums plus made it a power brake system along with installing power steering.

I just swapped the whole front suspension and disc brakes from a '72 and changed to power steering at the same time and added the power brake booster master cylinder combo. The truck started out with manual steering and 4 wheel drum brakes, yes it was a huge improvement. I got rid of the 4" Rancho lift springs my son had talked me into and got a lot better ride out of it. I also swapped the huge steering wheel for a smaller reproduction. The seat is out of a 2000 GMC, so now it has lumbar support and shoulder harness seat belts too.

I put a tilt steering column in it too.

I totally miss my '67 short bed fleetside. 230 inline 6 with 3 on the tree. I knew every nut and bolt on that truck. Right down to the busted in half and welded back together frame.. 
Nothing but the basics... didn't even have an indash radio. It was blanked out and I had an aftermarket in the glove box.

Stupidest thing I ever sold was my '66 F100 with a big block 352 and a 3 on the tree. Black with a red interior... She was an amazing survivor.

Good job with all the mods Dan! Makes me miss my old 74 GMC that I had in the early 90s. It had similar tires on it. Got it back then for only $800 with a rebuilt modified 350 and the sucker was quick but it was a work truck so it didn't look great. The tires alone were worth the price I got the truck for though. Only thing I didn't like about it was the 3spd turbo 350 trans where I had to drive slower than everyone else on the freeways. I'd like to have an old one like that again but the prices are stupid.

The 68 has been in the family between my son, me and youngest daughter. It started out as a totally stripped with a 307 small block, 3 on the tree manual transmission. Non power steering and brakes. No air and the heater didn't work. I bought it originally in 1991 and it has been Evolving ever since.

I had a wonderful maroon 66 Chevy pickup with a 3 on the tree and a 350 or 327.   It sure was fun lighting up the tires or more often lighting up the tire.  Unfortunately my long ago teenage immature driving habits killed it.  What a junker compared to a modern Toyota pickup but which one would be cooler?
