In the old days of drip coffee pots, the coating on the inside was often referred to as 'seasoning'.  If some fool (example - ME) cleaned that 'seasoning' out of the pot, the boss would figure that was almost a reason for employment termination.  [Almost got my but canned.]
In my modern day automatic drip coffee maker, I use distilled water to maintain a consistency in flavor, and help to prevent the buildup of scale/deposits on the insides.  I have not done any type of cleaning of the insides - ever.

The memsahib is from Texas! (Yipee!). She makes cowboy coffee on occasion.

She uses fresh crushed eggshells and a bit of salt.

I know a Russian fella who always taps a little bit of his first cigarette ash into his first cup of joe each day.  Says it wont taste right if he doesn’t.

When I finally wake up late in the morning, my brain and senses are so clogged up that I have no idea and I don't care what kind of caffinated beverage my wife puts in front of me.  I'm often going to bed around the time that you guys wake up.   I used to play a lot of online war games with clan members from around the world so battles starting at 2AM were nothing unusual.

Today is the start of me working weekends, and off sometime mid week. Amazing the number of people that come to pick apples and pumpkins, and want a hay ride through the woods, also amazing the deer will sit in the woods and watch them ride by like a parade.

Well, there ya go. Book hunting trips on the wagon. I know you're not suppose to hunt from a ve hical but are wagons still classified as a ve hical?🤔🤔

I made a nice pot of hot water this morning.. 
Betty Lou cleaned out the coffee maker yesterday as she normally does. Then she puts the filter and coffee in it. When I get up, a feed the dogs and fill the water reservoir and turn it on.
She didn't put the filter and coffee in and I drew a nice hot cup of water with sweetner and cream.

On a good note... it's Friday and we have a 3 day weekend.

Why would you want to ruin a good cup of coffee with sweetener and cream?

I used to put that in mine a half century ago, now.   JUST PLAIN BLACK COFFEE.

I change it up every couple years or so. Right now it's a packet of yellow sweetener and a splash of low fat creamer in a 20 oz. cup. With this dieting and get healthy crusade it's considered one of my sweeter pleasures.

 

  I have to admit I have brewed water before, and I also made coffee without the pot being in it's spot. The amazing thing about the brewing without the pot to catch it is that when I came back from my shower the counter was dry and the only sign was grounds were wet. There was a sleight undetectable to the eye slope to the sink where it just went down the drain.   

You know you need coffee if you make one of those errors. It also teaches that we shouldn't do things in a rush when we are not fully awake. LOL

In my case, I should not assume. I normally lift the lid to see if she has loaded the filter and coffee. For some reason I just skipped that step this morning.

That Betty Lou is something else I tell ya! 

I have NEVER cleaned a coffee maker.  Never even thought of it.  I read about it once in the manual but that's as far as it went.  😆😆😆

I suppose I was a bit misleading.... By cleaning I meant she dumps the old grounds and rinses. Once in a while she'll run vinegar    through it but that's not often.

I thought that was probably what was meant but I thought that I would let my comment ride anyway.  Just from your reports of BL I know she is a spectacular woman.  👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Well I cracked open another two liter of “the sweet brown death from the land of the big PX”.  In other words Coca Cola.  That and thick, black, syrupy tea are all I drink.

Do you know what fish do in water?

Water is only fit to drink if you dilute it with enough alcohol to kill the germs.

Anyhoo. . . .  The high fructose corn syrup and caffeine act to balance the various prescription drugs I consume.

Might explain why Im an insomniac that has to pee all night long.

The plan for today is clean house.  The memsahib has announced that she will return on Monday.  It’s not too bad.  I put all the dirty pots and dishes down on the floor for the dogs.  That took care of that.  I been staying on top of the laundry.  I’ll vacuum all the dog hair off everything and we’ll be good to go.

Good morning GTA! Happy Saturday & Labor Day Weekend! I slept in until 0545 CT. I got my first ESI, epidural spinal/steroid injection yesterday. I’m feeling great at the moment and I’m going to try to take it easy this weekend. It’s cool, damp and foggy outside right now. I’m going t take a shower after my next (3rd) cup o’joe and set myself up to shoot some airguns. Later on we’ll stop in at the Prairie Grove Clothesline Fair. Ayrabella has a very special relationship with the “pony ride” folks and they’re going to be there.

I was enjoying a cup of coffee at 5:30 this morning when I got a call. There was an unexpected truck showed up at work. I jumped into my shoes and went to unload it. Reloaded it with empty return racks and now I can have that coffee.
So now they have enough dash cowls to build 160 more Hyundai Santa Fes.

I was gonna clean house but it’s a nice sunny day and I’m low on co2 so I needed to run to town and get some.  Went to Wallymart but they were out!
Stopped off at the sand quarry on the way home and plinked for a while.

When I got home the dogs hadn’t cleaned anything so I guess I’m gonna have to.
