Quote from: Lt. Dan on August 19, 2021, 06:19:39 AM I'm cranking up the Z-turn at daybreak and starting on my yard.My plan is to only cut half (3 acres) today because it gets so hot early but if I manage to cut all 6 acres I'll be happier. Bummer. I noticed some vibration on my mower deck, I figured a spindle bearing was going out, after an hour mowing there was no doubt. Roaring and vibrating so I shut her down. Tomorrow morning I'll start pulling it off to see what bearings I need.

Since I have lived here I have wore out two mowers and this one is on it's third deck and second transmission. I have worn out 6 sets of tires and I have no idea how many blades, mowing weeds to the dirt is very hard on them. What I do is really Lawn Tractor abuse, I am surprised at how well they hold up. The tires I use are Carlisle Super Lug Lawn & Garden Tire - 20X10-8 on the rear for the hill climbs and Carlisle X Trac ATV 15x5.00-6 on the front, steering is harder but they don't slide sideways as much. This is the current mower, it is using about 1/2 quart of oil every 4 hours.
Good evening! Moving too fast to post this morning. Spent the day avoiding sunstroke. Not too successful. I feel like used food!
Yes sometimes it creeps up from behind then smacks you like a cheap shot below the belt. When I was out in Carlsbad NM in June it was late afternoon when I started setting up my tent. Long story short I thought I had been drinking enough water and gator all day but apparently not. By the time all the stakes and guy lines were secure with frequent breaks in the shade, I felt weak and nausea was right at my Adam's apple. I drank a 24oz Gatoraid and 3 liters of water before I felt like fixing a can of Progresso creamy chicken soup for dinner. Felt much better the next morning. It was 106*f when I set up my campsite. After that, I was much more aware of hydration during the rest of my trip.
I was brought up that, if you can't pay cash for it, you can't afford it.If I wanted something as a kid I had to deliver papers, mow yards or do odds jobs for the money.Dad said, when you get older you will learn that house and car payments are all the credit you want to deal with. Everything else, pay cash or do without.
Not so sure about all that... his other advise was..Live hard, die young and leave a good looking corpse.. he almost got that one right... Dad was a 'do as I say not as I do' kinda guy. Most of us kids learned what not to do from him... I said most of us..
