Wow Dan I don't guess I realized the dry environment that you live in.

To the Northeast of me there is a mountain, on the other side is Palm Springs and true desert. Going around the mountain on the straight highway it is only 49 miles to Palm Springs through the mountain it is 75 miles.

The water we get from our well is a blessing there are 13 places east of me that have to haul in water, one is a horse ranch. As long as we do not leave water running it keeps up with our household needs OK. The Church needs to put in a water tank system, and then it would keep up with landscaping water too. Right now, we just do not have any reserve water supply just a small pressure tank and I am not sure of the wells output. When the well was drilled in 1982, we were getting 17 gallons a minute, but I think it is no more than 3-5 now.

The well pump is at currently at 220', so we do have room to lower it deeper if we have to, but the deep water has a fair amount of Mica that has to be filtered out then with a sand separator and particle filters, which need daily attention. With the pump at the current depth, I don't have to do any frequent maintenance.   

Here is a pic from the backyard that was taken in August 2004 that brown is typical here in summer, In the distance beyond the white fence was a golf course that got in trouble for "too much water use", it went out of business when they tried to comply, and their grass did not survive. The thirteen east of me had put dye in their wells and it came out at the Golf Course, so it was clearly why they had lost their water supplies, all were shallower wells 100'-150' deep. Some of the trees have found ground water and some have not.

I live less than 3 miles from the shore of Diamond Valley Lake, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Southern California with a capacity of 800,000 acre-feet, 260 feet deep and over 4,500 surface acres. I am far enough away that we still have virtually no mosquitos at my house. We did see an increase in humidity when they filled the lake, but our air is still pretty dry in the afternoons when the heat is up. Right now it is 90 degrees and 18% humidity and winds 13 mph SW.  The humidity is suppose to go up to 89% over night tonight but will go back down as the day goes on again. We have what is known as June gloom in the mornings, but it burns off.

Good morning GTA! Up at 0452 CDST… or 4.52 as I saw it on the clock. Yes, I really thought that immediately when I saw it, as I posted elsewhere. It’s raining now as I sit and have my coffee. Supposed to rain the next few days. Didn’t get any calls yesterday. I wound up mowing the entire lawn yesterday afternoon, considering the coming rain. I did shoot the QB78D some and I think it’s time to up the power. Nothing crazy, just another 100 FPS should do it for me. I think I’ll order some parts today. 

Update: ordered an .177 XP Tune kit from AOA. The bow & arrow guy only had .22 available.

Good morning GTA! Up at 0630 CDST. Yep sounds late for me right, but considering I didn't get to sleep till 0230 CDST this morning I think it is okay. I don't know what it could have been but that I may have drank too much coffee too late in the day.   Wait... that couldn't have been it, my wife was awake till 0200 also.  We watched a movie till 2330 last night.... hmm?

It rained off and on yesterday and most of the night last night and still is sprinkling.  It's supposed to rain pretty steady straight through till Monday night. So no shooting today or tomorrow.

 Last weekend (Memorial Day) my favorite Son in Law brought over his Christmas present I got him 2 maybe 3? years ago.
 A brand spanking new out of the box Beeman AR2078-B. complete with soft case, box of JT CO2 carts and a tin of RWS R-10 pellets.
 I asked if he had cleaned the barrel yet, and he said "No, haven't done anything but mount the peep for today".
but there were too many "Littles" running around to shoot so we set it inside.
 This morning I finally opened up the case.
"OHHHHH... purdy!" I thought to myself.
 Today I will run some cleaning patches through it and shoot it a bit, just to help him out.

Good morning all!

I actually got a good night's sleep last night, which seems a rarity these days. 😆

Spent much of yesterday doing clean-up chores around here....outside, the car and one of the trucks, garden area, and shooting area.

Today I don't have much going on, but will probably go dance this evening with the old folks. Lol
(They all start going home early, which is a great excuse for me to do the same! Hehe)

My goodness! I mostly posted “what I did”, not what’s on the agenda for “today”!
Today we have Ch**ch at 1000 hrs. After that we have a cookout (or a cook-in, depending on the weather) to celebrate the Ch**ch’s 150 years. I like food & fellowship.

And… we have a major fly problem in the garage because we now have cows and chickens not 40 yards from my house across the side fence next door. After the cookout, I’m going to Lowe’s for a screen door for the back door on the garage, some more fly traps and plastic spackle knives for mower deck scraping. I have a couple plastic garden trowels that I use, but in the past the plastic spackle knives get every bit off better. The flys are always really attracted to my mower in the corner of my garage when I don’t scrape the deck immediately.

I'm building another stone wall (for my wife of course).   I have a couple of  largish granite rocks I want to use for each end of the wall.   I'm figuring the weight is at least 500-700 pounds each.   I have to move them a couple hundred feet across my lawn to the new wall location.  My neighbor the landscape contractor has offered to move them with a backhoe or bobcat.   But I'm thinking I need the exercise and I'd like to channel my ancient Egyptian energy so maybe I'll move them the old fashioned way.   I have no slaves, I'm the slave.

When the husby was still alive, he built a HEAVY thick-wall steel smoker, and I am not certain of the weight, but I'd guess close to your estimates on the stones. We used the old Roman method. LOL

I had to do something like that years ago with big concrete pavers.  I built a simple sledge out of scrap lumber, loaded it using a long lever to save my back and dragged it using my lawn mower.  Saved my back.

I have been thinking of buying one of those portable water coolers to put in my living room. I have central air, but I usually only use a window ac in my bedroom, because it is much more energy efficient. It is usually adequate, but I'd like to have a little more cool in the LR area, especially as summer goes on.
