It's a beautiful clear / calm 50 degree morning... Today's high is a pleasant 76!
At 09:30 I need to grill lunch for 120 golfers, then at 16:00 meeting up with our friends for a road trip to Michigan for a dinner at Bill's Steak House LINKY
Word is it's worth the drive.

In between may be some yard work.. defiantly some air gun shooting!!!

Mawnin y'all!  I'm feeling a bit battered since my UTV accident yesterday.  So, brace on the right knee,  wrap the left knee, find the cane.  I'm driving boat tours today and hoping I can limp along til quitting time.

On the positive side I'm alive, nobody went to the hospital and nobody went to jail.

I remember 10 years ago when I tripped and did a shoulder roll and came back to my feet unhurt as though I had planned the whole thing, that'll never happen again, LOL.
I did surprise myself when I was in Idaho last month and while going down a steep rock bank by a Dam, I stepped on a rock that turned and somehow didn't fall but jumped ahead of the tumbling small boulder and almost got out of the way of it. It just scraped my shin as it stopped rolling. My ankle that turned completely sideways with the bottom of my foot becoming the side, swelled up but never did really hurt. I didn't let go of or break my fishing pole either.
I know from experience that going from being on a vehicle to hitting the road hurts and hurts for a good while afterwards especially when there is interference when your directional momentum. It is best to push on with normal as soon as possible not succumbing to the pain and soreness. I think we heal faster while moving.



We hauled off two old mattresses and some other trash this morning. Now we are just waiting for rain.

April of 2010 coming home from work. I'm slowly cruising down the right side of 2 stopped line of Carson my Fz1 yammy. There's a gas station on my right. I'm thinking my 2 danger points are someone pulling out of the line of cars to my left or someone coming out of the gas station. Wrong! 2 women thought they would be nice and held back to let another woman driving a Toyota Sequoia through to the gas station. As a result I became a hood ordainment. All 500 lbs of MC and my 220 lbs got punted 15 feet up into gad station lot. My left foot caught on the license plate and stopped going forward while on the MC side of my left foot caught on the shift linkage. It ripped right through my riding boots and right through my foot just past my big toe. . I can't imagine what would've happened if I was wearing sandals or tennis shoes. I'd be stumbling around with a foot not my own. Almost was going to get back on the bike and ride home but the radiator was busted. I had a fear of doctors and especially hospitals. Had 2 surgeries before I was 10 and back then they didn't codel kids like they do now.

Today a dumdum approaching a intersection had his blinker on so I started to turn and the idiot nearly ran me over going straight through the intersection to pass an additional driveway before finally turning into his desired driveway 300ft down the road. I guess that's why his window was busted out ticking off someone else like that too. Sense ain't common any more.

Made it through the day with just Ibuprofen.  I'm doing a lot better.  The swelling in my knee is reducing and my hip doesn't hurt as much.  It will probably be a few weeks before I'm back to 100%.  Harold, the guy who was riding with me, got a good scrape on his elbow and some bruises but he says he's doing better than I am.  For that I am deeply thankful.  This is my Friday and I'm off the next two days.  Don't have any plans except to sleep and recuperate.

In 2007 after my first motorcycle accident my wife had to leave the next day to stay with her dyeing mother so I was on my own and could barely get out of bed and walk with crutches. My thigh had been smashed between the Van that turned in front of me and the gas tank on the VTX I had then (my leg crushed my gas tank), it turned dark purple from the groin to my knee, the whole muscle was very badly bruised. My  left shoulder had put a big dent in the van, so my left arm was not completely usable either.  

  So, I had to ride my Honda '85 VT1100C to the mail box to get the mail. It made sense to me at the time, if I had fallen over there is no way I could have picked it up though.

  If I wasn't so stubborn I would have asked for help.    The Doctor said I should be off work for 6 months, but at 2 months I insisted to be released for full duty. Sitting around or laying around is something I don't do well at for very long.

After 2 shoulder surgeries that left me with a total reverse shoulder replacement and no rotator cuff I had to sell the Harley. I knew if I kept it I would ride it and I also knew I wasn't able to avoid an idiot when and if it happened. Now we ride ATVs in the soft mud. 4 wheels makes it easy to stop and not fall over..

Dirt bikes and pine trees don't mix, I was learning to ride one when I was caught in a deep rut and followed it right into a pine tree. Hit the tree so hard it knocked my shoes off, laid on the ground, out cold for 30 minutes. What I didn't know at the time, I had broken my neck in 2 places and mangled my left shoulder. After that, took a more cautious approach to riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. Bill, I am like you, I love riding but don't love being run over or trying to keep it upright.

Plans for today, inventory fuel for tractor and generators, clean carburetors in lawn toys, outboard, and one generator, round up propane tanks to be filled. Things are starting to fire up along the alley already. Just getting ahead of the morons if one decides to come our way.

Good morning GTA! Happy Sunday! I got up at 0500. Yesterday, I got my van about as good as I could get it done, for being on call. I didn’t get a call to work until around 1700, but the store closed at 1900. Today, I need to go back, because they have 3 split systems and I only got to look at the air handlers. I still need to get on the roof to look at the condensers. It seems I got 2 of them to run, but something’s wrong with the middle unit. I might go to Sunday school and then go to work from there. Sunday school is from 0900-1000 and the store opens at 1130. Coffee first.

I was 21 and still in college, missed a week's worth of class because of it. Not to long ago I was going to a message therapist to get loosened up from the arthritis and she asked me when did I tear my left rotator cuff. I didn't know I had done that on top of breaking my neck which was found during an MRI 30 years later. I don't have anything else x-rayed because they keep finding things that have been broken in the past. As for pain, what is that, most of the time I don't know I have done it until a few days later when the damage becomes obvious.

My right shoulder is jacked from falling down a flight of wooden stairs backwards 2 years ago.
 Last night we had friends over and played "Left, Right, Center" I reached for the dice and my shoulder went "CRACK"... I winced, but kept playing.
  Friends were like "what the heck just happened here?!"
I put the friends wife's hand on my shoulder and gave it a twirl. She immediately freaked out and I said "that's a soft one... The bad ones are what you heard"

Afternoon y'all!  Pain meds make you sleep.  It sounds like we are all a bunch of adventurous types!

I was a club racer in the eighties.  Flat trackers, Box stock and unlimited super sport.  We called it the steel toe wars.  Had my share of getoffs.  Then I discovered down hill mountain biking!  I would race anything with two wheels.  I tossed an XR500 off a cliff at Hemet and got life flighted.  The memsahib threatened to burn every bike in the garage after that one.  Now I sound like some one breaking a bundle of twigs whenever I stand up!
