With a temple shot, the entry wound gets cauterized and has very minimal bleeding.

I don’t get affected watching gore in real life, having seen a few up close and personal in my lifetime.

I actually watched our farmhand being autopsied by a medico-legal.

He was shotgunned by one of our demented guards at the farm my BIL owns.

I still have several very close photos of it in my now-inaccessible (if I don’t pay up) Photobucket account.

I slept from 3:00 AM until 8:00 AM

Why was I up till 3:00 AM you ask? Well I started taking a supplement that is supposed to help with energy, it does... I need to try just an early dose and see if I get tired when I need to, it may just work too good for me. 

My wife is teaching knitting later on today at my youngest daughters house and they need a fence repaired that their pit bulls messed up. I am going to do the fence repair for them and will get paid with a good supper. I don't know, but will not be surprised if we go out to eat since they are caterers and get tired of cooking for their own house all the time too.

Manong Samson, the farmhand guy, was supposed to be impervious to gunshot and hack wounds ‘cuz he had an “agimat”, aka amulet, but his family told me that he left it at home at the time of the incident.

I’ve seen this devilry in action 2 years after graduating from college.

1 of my men (Jun Alviar), ‘cuz I managed a forwarder, slashed himself with a blade with no flesh wounds, only on an epidermal level.

Out if curiosity, I actually slashed him myself, and it was akin to slicing hard rubber.

His Pa was a member of the Ilaga/Pulahan Group, an infamous group formed to fight off rebels in the PI.

Looking back, I still have doubts of that incident even though I witnessed it myself.

Going back to the Pulahan/Ilaga Group, they are said to be invincible to bullets, sustaining only bruises where they are hit, but you have to face the enemy and fire off your rounds and not turn your back, as doing so means cowardice and would cause you to be vulnerable.

The ritual is very complex and requires total abstinence to worldly or hedonistic pleasures, but all I can say is that it’s very demonic in nature and in the guise of having a divine blessing of some sort.

In connection to this, there was this American guy, a WW2 vet, assigned in the PI during the aforesaid war, who later wrote a non-fiction book.

Somewhere in the middle chapters of his book , what he wrote was his experience with the “unknown” powers.

In his book again (wish I could recall the title cuz it was back in the early 90s when I read that one), they were (him and a composite group of soldiers or guerillas) assigned to shoot to kill a Filipino bandit.

They did get him eventually, ambushing him whilst on a bicycle, but their bullets did not penetrate the bandit’s body, only causing severe injuriey like he was pummeled by hundreds of fists.

Good morning/afternoon GTA! I had a doctor’s appointment with lab work this morning, so I stayed in bed way past what I normally do. That’s all done and I’m at work now. I’ll take it as it comes until it’s time to go home. The past few days have been weird. My wife and I had a spat on the first, Sunday, right before I rolled out to work… when I went home we found out a nephew took his own life at 24 years old. My brother-in-law’s (my wife’s oldest brother), his oldest son. No one saw it coming. Yesterday my wife was on the phone all day and I just milled about on call, waiting on a job that never came. Hopefully, sometime today my wife & I start feeling more normal. The spat we had was really stupid, then the bad news. I feel like we’ve been in the twilight zone since.

I hope the poor guy left a note so everyone will at least know why he decided to take his life. Arguments happen especially when you're stressed hurting and overworked. Learn from it and you both agree on a solution to prevent that from happening again so the pain isn't wasted or continued.

Thanks Gil. He did leave a note. We know about his troubles, and they’re not uncommon to what we’ve all been through. He simply didn’t seek help, is my opinion. We’ll all get through it. My wife & I always get through, that I know.

Morning..
Well we made it through. The first wave produced virtually nothing but some rain. In fact, it was so weak that we became complacent and went to bed. At around 3am I got the robo call on the land line phone. Just a tornado watch, not a warning.
At around 4am the sound of the freight train came roaring through and I could hear Rambo pacing the hallway. By then it was too late to get everyone out of the house and into the bar. So we hunkered in place.
The wind has passed now and all we have is rain, thunder and lightning. I listened throughout and didn't hear anything hit the house or any thumps of anything large falling on the ground. We never lost power or internet.
Last I heard the line of storms was moving at 45mph but I haven't heard any reports on the max wind speed yet. They definitely sounded high.
Once it gets light out I'll go out and access the damage, if any.

Up late man thses days like this make it hard to get up for a normal day. We have a MSHA refresher today.

Just came in from walk about.
No signs of any damage and just a few small branches down.. just dead stuff.
But there is a sea of standing water on the property.
The rain has all but stopped now and sunshine is predicted by noon and for the next several days and mid 60's. That's my kind of forecast right there.

I'll be blowing snow again today.
Another bis snow storm hit yesterday, last night and today.
I cleared about 10 inches of snow yesterday.
It links like there is another 6 inches of snow ut there this morning.
I drove into town yesterday.
It was close to whiteout conditions and cars were getting stuck all over.
We made it back home ok, thanks to Snow Tires.

Mornin y’all.  10/10 overcast. Ceiling is about 5000’.  Even the birds are walking today.  Temps in the sixties.  I’m going mushroom hunting!  I’ll have an air rifle along in case some squirrels show up but today’s expedition will be principally about edible wild fungus.

I've been stuck in my house since Sunday night. Snow drifted so deep across my driveway I couldn't get out. Thank God the crew that does my neighbors driveway came over and did mine. I was happy to give them the $50 to clear the 2 1/2 car driveway over 100' long plus my sidewalks. Heart Drs don't want me shoveling snow right now.

Good morning GTA! Happy Wednesday! Glad to hear everyone’s doing OK, even through the weather. I got up about a quarter past 0400 CST. Had my 0600 meeting and now I’m at work. My office is moving to a bigger office today. So, we’re communicating and dispatching through the corporate office. Should be a fairly uneventful day. My wife wants to go to Oregon to be with family, but is not agreeing to any of my ideas. We may or may not go, I may or maybe not put her on an airplane. It’s up to her, we’ll see.

The worst of it went north of us.  We got a pretty good down pour this a.m. though.  I walked some sodden trails in the wake of the storm looking for mushrooms.  No joy.  Tomorrow will be a better day.

Those days are mostly behind me now.  I'm losing weight these days and I do have periodic flash backs.  Kinda disconcerting.

Currently I only hunt the nutritious ones, not the psychedelic ones.

Good morning GTA! Happy Thursday! I woke up at 0400, went back to sleep until 0530 CST. I need to quit doing that, though. Today is not a big deal, I have a small PM to do with an air filter change. I’m going to have one more cup o’Joe and get going. I want to stop for a haircut on the way out.

Like Tom, today is cleanup day here at the FIREWALKER compound. We started with 16" of actual ground snow depth, measured on the 29th of December. We added another 15" of snow over three days BUT we started with rain then heavy snow, followed with light snow. LOTS of compaction happened very quickly, wind drove much of the light snow to drifts and reduced standing snow.

Today, I will have to run the snow blower, the plow will not push this concrete like snow, It needs to be cut and thrown.

Gunna be a long day...
