Going to do some work on the Sheridan. I need to remove the action from the stock and do some cleaning of it. I also need to clean the barrel. There's probably dead spiders in it from how long it's been sitting.😳

One thing that comes clear very quickly when casting pellets...
You can shoot them a heck of alot faster than you can make them.

I'll be picking up yard and garden debris.   After I'm good and dirty my wife might give me a hair cut.   She doesn't want me looking too shaggy when her family shows up for Easter dinner.

I have been up for hours now but I slept a lot better last night and the coughing has lessoned a lot too.

 If I had to predict when I will be fully recovered from this respiratory bug I would say probably 2-5 more days based on the rate of decreasing symptoms. I am hoping for the sooner...

 I plan on to try finishing filing my taxes.

 I think I feel a bit better than yesterday this morning. Time will tell.

 I ended up doing nothing yesterday, I plan on trying to be more productive today.

Mornin y’all! Tomorrow is the Sopchoppy Worm Grunting Festival! I’ve got to get ready!

We have to load our antique farm wagon on the flatbed trailer and haul it into town.  We’ll unload it in front of the old train depot and set up our “Turpentine camp”.  Collecting Rosen for turpentine was the principle industry in Sopchoppy for many years.  I have all kinds of tools and memorabilia associated with the “Naval Stores Industry” that I set up and do an interpretative program about.  I do this to help promote tourism in Sopchoppy.  I’ve got a couple of fellows coming to help load and unload everything later today.

The annual Sopchoppy worm grunting festival is April 12, 2025 from 0900 until 1800.  Food, crafts, live bands, entertainment, and worm grunting!

What in the heck is worm grunting??

Worm grunting is a method for collecting earth worms for fish bait.

Drive a hardwood stake into the ground and drag an old car leaf spring across the stob to create vibrations that get transmitted into the ground.  These vibrations (allegedly) drive earthworms to the surface where they are collected by hand. 

Yeah its pretty rustic but in a place called "Sopchoppy" what else are you going to do for fun?

Robert what Sam didn't tell you is that the fish baiters grunted worms after a forest fire. They are good setting fires that would clear the under brush out but not cook the worms. That was one of my biggest headaches when I first started working here. These fires would creep around for days undetected until the wind changed then I would have to go put it out. Some folks made good money at it but it's a lot of hard work.

Good Morning, I got up at 6:30 after a better nights sleep.
 
  The bug/cold that has been attacking me for a couple of weeks seems to be finally retreating. The cough has lessened a lot.

  It is a weird one that started in the chest and then went to the sinuses after the first week of just having a cough alone.

  I have a sinus headache and plans are on hold because of it. I am hopeful it will subside in a little while since I am upright now.

Running through some of my guns trying to decide which one I want to take with me on our trip to Ohio the first of the month. I know I'll be taking the CS3 compressor. Pretty sure I want the gun to be a regulated gun for shot count. I can do shorter fills on a regulated gun and still get a couple mags of consistent shooting before dropping off the regulator.
I'm leaning towards the NOTOS. I can do 2 12 shot mags from 3k down to the 1900psi reg setting. It loves the JTS 18.1 pellets and I have a few tins on hand.
It's very compact and fits nicely in the compact case I have for it. I also have the Caldwell (BOG) Deadshot Fieldpod that folds up nice and small.
Betty Lou's sister has a newly renovated cabin on the property near a small lake that we'll be staying in so there is room for shooting.

Goin' to the best thing in town today, the dump.    Then we're off to pick up a free shotgun from an elderly couple from church.   Don't know what it is but it's free and comes with ammo.

Won't be much time for that... 10 hour drive up on Thursday, The event on Saturday and 10 hour drive back on Monday. Betty Lou has a good size family and most of the time will be spent visiting.
All the women folk will be preparing food and whatever Friday for the event. They all cook and have their own specialties. Betty Lou usually does the pasta and potato salads.
Sunday will be for resting, digesting and recovering.

Bill, I know what you mean. Just did a 12 hour drive to Jax and 3 hour full physical on Wednesday but it was worth it for me. I had to wait 2 years to get this done they have a long waiting list. It's the same physical that I had to do the maintain employment. I had some things that they had been monitoring and I needed to see if anything had drastically changed. They have it where first responders that had retired can continue it at a reasonable price and it's well worth every bit. So the marathon drive was for a good cause and everything is doing great.
