I guess we just get caught up in our own Worlds and don't give enough thought to those who keep things running while we enjoy our holidays with family.

Bill, it was the same for me, some of us had to hold down the fort during the holidays. This will be my second Christmas not working, it's a strange feeling to some extent but peaceful for a change.

I guess I remember working in the retail business when I was much younger working the holidays. But in the past 20+ years (before retirement) in the automotive manufacturing/ production industry, we just didn't work holidays. Typical 17 paid holidays off per year. We also had the 2 retooling shutdowns per year in July and December on top of our vacation days. The 2 paid shutdowns included the 4th of July and Christmas and lasted 10 to 14 days depending on the calendar. I had earned 3 weeks vacation per year at the time of retirement.

Sun's out today unlike earlier and yesterday's rain and enjoying old Christmas tunes while burning a fire in the pit. I don't care for modern Christmas music but the nostalgic oldies is where it's at for me. Fed the local cat so she's happy and unknown to her she'll get a 2nd can of fishy goodness later for a Christmas gift and since it's going to be really cold tonight so that will keep her internal oven warm until tomorrow. Ahh ain't I sweet.

Both my son and daughter-in-law are medical.  People usually can't choose when they will need to be hospitalized. 
However, they are both off today.  We will be going over to their house in about an hour.

OK, I'm officially stuffed.
I know the plan was to eat generously today but I don't think this was part of that plan.
There are so many leftovers to make great meals from for the next week.

I sooo need a nap.

Merry Christmas Y'all!  High winds and it was actually choppy out on the river.  Kept getting kicked around by the wind.  Every time I got off the power the wind would start pushing us into the bank.  I drove three tours, cleaned some restrooms,  hauled some trash, and locked everything up at the end of the day.  I had a thirty minute drive home to Sopchoppy where my family were waiting with Christmas dinner.  I am now stuffed full of delectable viands, thoroughly satiated, and pleasantly befuddled.

Good morning GTA! Happy Tuesday! Yesterday was a really great Christmas, just the 3 of us. Today is Ayrabella’s 11th Birthday, it’s like a second Christmas Day! We’re going ice skating, our first time ever in Arkansas- Ayrabella’s first time ever, of course. I ordered my first PCP last night, so I had a hard time falling asleep- probably fell asleep around 0030 this morning and had to get up at 0430 and started the coffee… sure hope to get a nap in before ice skating.

We're heading down to Phoenix😞. Hate the big city! Going down to get a recliner for the wife. The love seat and couch is at the wrong angle size for her back and she's really hurting from it. It's about 250 miles round trip 😳! Did I say I hate big cities. Yeah it's not LA or New York but........

Good morning, little foggy but has cleared out. Full blood work this morning, then to china freight for some welding supplies. At home now, eat a little something, then probably nap, fasting takes a lot out of me, then it's finish the layout of the gate panel and transfer it to the sheet metal. Hopefully it will be dry for a few days after Wednesday, it's suppose to rain that day.

Daughter #2 and her husband are here all day for our 4th Christmas gathering in 3 days!  I’ll be ready for a break from food and festivities after this day is complete.  🤣

So far we made a TON of waffles and coffee, opened gift and straightened up the mess.  Sun is out and now folks are dispersed around the place playing games, conversing, and just doing their own thing.  We will take a few pictures with the whole group and then back to doing whatever. 

I’m thinking about purchasing a new TV but I have 0 desire to go to Costco.  I haven’t bought a new TV since Mrs. P and I were first married 32 years ago.  We had one given to us many years ago and that is what we use currently but the sound goes out occasionally and the screen will turn red sometimes too.  It’s not like we’re hurting so I think I can splurge on the $270 58” from Costco especially seeing that we have over $200 rewards from Costco.  Watching TV is NOT been a priority for us ever. 

I may roll a can or two with an air rifle if activities permit. 

Burgers are on the menu for lunch/dinner tonight.
