Hammerli Pneuma Elite 10 arrived

I've only had time to wipe it down, and clean the barrel and run two magazines through it so far. Need to get a scope on it, and play with it some more, but here are the initial pictures. The LDC is from Neil Clague. He's owns a .177 Pneuma single-shot so it seemed a good "fit" to go with his work. When I can,
I'll post a comparative before/after video of it's effectiveness.

What caliber? Mine is in .22, and shoots very hard. I'd like to tone it down just a bit to up the shot count to 30 for three full mags. Right now, I get about 24 good shots with 18gr JSB pellets.

thanks Jay! I'll be there Saturday for certain. Can hardly wait.
AZ, mine is .22 as well; the 10-shot version, same as you. I got impatient and the single-shot was out of stock. You are right about this rifle hitting hard. I'm only putting 14.6 grain H&N FTTs down the barrel at the moment. I know what you mean about toning it down. AoA's website says a full tank is good for 20 shots. On other sites the rifle is said to waste air. There are mods out there to tone it down. One cleaver mod is just an O-ring to fit around the valve ports (which are large). This mod is said to make the rifle a 12FPE rifle . I've already got one in that range.(CZ200/.177 just like you!)
Also I have to tell you I am more than pleased with Neil's LDC. As you know, the Pneuma is quite loud. Not any more.
What scope do you have on yours?

thanks Vet,
I hope to have a great time with this one, and my other two budget PCPs (plus my odd little springer pistol).

Am sure you will enjoy the rifle.
Scope time. Does have the ability to use full sized weaver type mounts or grooved ".22 type" mounts, really makes little difference as PCP's don't try to shake their scopes off ... but my thinking is that so long as it can take the weaver type mounts, may as well use them. They do seem to allow the gun to get closer to zero once the scope has been off and back but the limited number of choices for those weaver type rings to mount will rule out anything but full sized scope.

Hi Rib,
I have both types of mounts lying about. Not set on a scope just yet (my CP seems to need repair) but I've been thinking about a fixed-mag scope maybe 4x. I've asked about that in another thread in the Airgun Gate. Have to see what's available. One thing I found with that CP on is the overall weight is not to my liking. So selecting a scope will bear that in mind.
So far I have the wrong pellets. The H&N FTTs with the 5.54 heads must be too big( I read that the choke on the Pneuma is tight) but they work very well in my P-rod. The CPHPs give tighter groups at 30 yards, but I'm using the Walmart series, and they are said not to be the best.
I think I found a misprint in the trigger instructions pertaining to adjusting the trigger pull. Turning the screw in does not lighten the pull, but increases it. Cocking the rifle requires a firm pull for certainty. It's happened more than once already that I've shot two pellets at one because I was not firm, and double-cocked the rifle to be sure I'd cocked it completely.
I hope it the action gets smoother as I shoot more. It's a great rifle for weight without the scope on it, but I don't like the front sight. I have to decide what the aim point is when looking at that red spot. I see the thin frame it sits in and that is part of the sight picture.
The rifle holds well due to the shape of fore stock, which the fingers wrap around easily. It is an air hog. More to come.

I thought the Hatsan had a mechanism that was supposed to prevent double loading of pellets?....

ONce I figure out how to kill the automatic part of the safety and make it manual set only, suspect the cocking would be smoother. Hate automatic set safety buttons...like a safety, but I also like to be the one deciding when it goes on.
Notice the instruction manual makes reference to both types of safety..so guessing it isn't going to be too hard to make it manual only.

You've got an S500?! When did you get that? PM Jay about our latest shooting adventure. He hosts these meets. I've also met a fellow who belongs to a shooting club a bit nearer. He's trying to plan an airgun meet for the 25th, but I haven't heard much more from him about it. He's asking attendees to have their own portable shooting benches. I've been dragging my feet on building one, and may not make one in time (ADD and CRS here).
