Newly purchased FWB 300 , cocking issue?

Hello all,

Well this is my first European rifle, the FWB 300. It is amazing, and shoots more accurate than my other PCP rifles with LW barrels. If I bought this rifle in the very beginning, I would not have a need for all the others I bought over the years. I am very happy with it but I have a concern. Before I cock it, the receiver tends to just slide to the rear without any resistance (I can easily pull it back with 2 fingers), and then it moves back forward when the cocking lever is pulled all the way back. Other times, it does not slide to the rear, but remains stationary and locked in place, even while cocking. In both events, the reciever does slide backward when fired. It also has a little twang when fired.

Is it a cocking issue?

It is a recoilless rifle.
Shoot and enjoy.
If factory standard, you have two opposing springs inside.
If you are concerned, send it to motorhead for a quick once over checkout..

Thanks, Frank. I thought the "sticking" on occasion was weird. Thank GD it wont cost me $$$ 

I am enjoying this rifle so much that none of my PCP's are getting any attention. I think if folks with 25Y or less to shoot in their backyard bought this rifle first, they would never have a need to buy another rifle. Its accuracy is just astounding!

I am confused if it is right. OK, I am starting to look at the (Cyclops) videos, but in one video, it clearly shows the the sled is NOT shifting back after being fired.



However, in another video, It IS shifting back because he is pulling it back before cocking just like I have to do!!! He is saying its because it has two new pins in the front (3:12). He is saying it is just breaking in.

The sledge should lock in the forward position when cocked, and when fired, the sledge is released to recoil; but he amount of movement depends on the condition and configuration of the rifle.  Sticky/bent sledge guides, contact with the stock, etc. will have an effect on movement.  You'll also get more movement using match sights than when using a big heavy scope.  It sounds to me like you gun is functioning normally.  When you shoot the gun, you ought to be able to just lower the muzzle, and the sledge will slide forward and lock.  I usually just push on the back of the action with my thumb to lock it in the forward position, but either way, it will end up locked in the forward position when fully cocked again.

As far as needing another air rifle, the 300S had the opposite effect on me.  I now have three 300S, a 300, and two 150's.

300's in the sled areas need to be kept spotless clean and lightly lubricated.  The system slides on 3 rods/pins, 2 up front side by side being @ 3mm pins and one in the rear dead center under the main tube being @ 5mm pin.

Upon cocking the mechanics of the lever by design push the action forward & it stays there until fired simply by having gun being held and shot LEVEL.  *These are 10M guns that are shot LEVEL.  Tilting the muzzle upward or downward CHANGES the sleds motion and recoil will differ if done.

I swear, I have now broken off all the relationships with every rifle I own and purposed for 25y or less target shooting.
