Hatsan Model 1000 Vortex Striker .25

I just received a Hatsan Striker 1000 vortex with a wooden stock.  I've seen a number of guns I would like to have being discussed on this forum.  I mentioned that I was interested in one of these in passing.  Member SteveP-52 took me at my word and GAVE me one!  What a wonderful, generous person.  I'm now the proud owner of one in .25 cal.  I unboxed it yesterday and took it out for a quick test.  It seems to shoot quite well but I was too shaky to group.  I mounted a Winchester 4X32 AO scope and I intend to slip out in a few minutes and explore its limits.  Steve said that he did a de-burr, polish and replaced the piston seal, but didn't touch the trigger.  Straight out of the box the trigger is better than any of my other springers so I'm leaving it alone for right now.  If I can shoot this gun accurately it will make a good bunny buster.

I am very close to downsizing and selling off a boatload of my collection due to my upcoming retirement plans.
The H1KV .25 is one of the very few springer/gas ram guns I will keep.
I recently picked up a laptop that will free one of my other laptops to run Windows to be compatible with my Chrono usb software (I'm a Linux user). So, in the very near future, I will be running some numbers and adding to this thread.... hopefully by this weekend.

Coming late to this thread, looking for info on the Hatsan 1000X in both springer and Vortex versions.  Here in Coffee Country we don't get deals like you do up in the US of A, but recently I came across what equals a deal here and bought one of the 1000X in 25 caliber springer format.  First shots were all over the place velocity wise. So I tore it down and had a look, the seal was irregular and grease was everywhere it shouldn't be.  Took a bit of sand paper and smoothed the seal out a bit, cleaned and lubed it all properly and  ended up with single digit SD and right around 19 FPE with Gamo Hunter pellets (the only ones available locally).  Had it at the club and the father of one of our newer FT shooters talked me into selling it to him for about what I had in it. 

Went back to the online store I'd bought it from and they had two more advertised. Placed the order and a Vortex version showed up instead of the springer version. Well, I'd been wanting to play with a gas ram so now I've got one to play with.  Again the velocity as shipped was very erratic.  Took it down and looked it over. It was sealed in a plastic bag from the factory, but this one was very rusty on the inside, oxidation mixed with lube everywhere.  Cleaned it up, lubed it sparingly and in the right places (makes me wonder who does these at the factory), smoothed out the seal with a bit of sand paper and reassembled. Very interesting cocking and shooting strokes, different from the springer version.

Shooting JSB Kings I'm getting:

Took it to the range and found out my eyes don't like the iron sights. So I've fitted a UTG 4X32 Hunter 35 yard parallax scope and will be doing further testing Saturday, I hope. So far have only been able to source JSB Kings, H&N Barracudas and Gamo Hunters, along with some "American Eagles", a brand made and sold down here. Sure like the looks of the NOE molds, may need to pick one up next time we're up in the US. 

And I keep eyeing the lone remaining 25 Cal 1000X on that online store. It's still priced the same as it was two years ago, in spite of the inflation that's hit us - which makes it a relative bargain.  Don't know if it's a springer or Vortex. If I KNEW it was a springer it'd be harder to pass up as running the two power plants side by side could be interesting.

Thanks to all who are contributing to this thread, now I've got ideas how to spruce this rifle up a bit more.

Imo, its not a bad idea to snag that last 1000x. I'm having a hard time finding one in the USA. I'm not really looking to buy. I'm just looking to see what's out there and I wasn't finding much.

I'm tempted. Sorely tempted. But it's a spare $200 US I don't have right this second... we'll see if I can move my Cometa 300 down the road, then perhaps I'll jump on it.

I was moving some guns around this morning and out of curiosity I stepped out on the front porch with the HS1KV. I instantly noticed the lack of resistance when I broke open the barrel. It was low enough that I didn't want to load a pellet and chance getting it stuck in the barrel.
I know a shot this gun a few weeks ago and there was no indication of weakness.
Oh well, 4 years... can't complain too much. For what I paid I think it did pretty good.
Now I'll have to decide.. research reseal, research replacing gas ram or convert to spring.
Heck, I don't even know if I can reseal and charge... I don't know if replacement rams are obtainable... and I'm not sure what all is involved in converting to spring.

Ronno6 has had a lot of luck rebuilding the Vortex rams. The Striker is also a good candidate for a Crosman NP ram conversion.

Bill, I have got a Crosman Nitro Piston in my 25 cal. Edge and it is working out nicely.
It is a much better set up in my opinion.

One question concerning reseal. What do or did you recharge the ram with... HPA? Nitrogen? ...

I use HPA......I do not have nitrogen. Would maybe a better choice, but donno if O-rings are rated for it....
It would be less leak prone, but as brittle as the O-rings get, dunno if they would hold nitrogen any better...........

You can get everything you need to convert your Striker to coil for $60.00 from Hatsan
And, you will have a few parts extra  (stock, trigger assy, barrel, etc...)
They have refurbed coil spring Edge's for that amount........

Yeah, I'll have to think about what I want to do. These were $100 discontinued guns when a few of us bought them.
