Daisy made in Spain wadcutters .177

Just wanted to post my experience with these. My local academy normally has these for 1.99 box of 250. There in a black flip top plastic box like the old school pellets back in the 90’s. I have had excellent luck with these. They seem to group good in all my guns( 880,760,66,397). I’ve had guns that weren’t grouping with other pellets and tried these and they group good.

For a cheap pellets there a great value. I randomly weighed 10 pellets and they all weighed exactly 7.5 grains. There also nice and clean with very little swarf. Pretty dang good for 2 dollar pellets. I liked them well enough to order a case of 12000. I’d like to hear others opinions on these. If you have tried them let me know what you think.

They shoot well in my guns also. Not as good as Crosman premier lights. Almost as good as Crosman wadcutters....Better than every other pellet that I have on hand. Since my guns like the Crosman pellets and they are also inexpensive I have more of them..... but I bought a bunch of the Daisy wadcutters. If they were all  I could get I wouldn't grieve much.

I don't really like a pointed pellet but keep buying them because they're cheap and shoot quite well in all my guns. The Spanish pellets are made by Gamo, right? As long as the tins say "Made in Spain" I've had really good results from them.

Where did you order your case of 12k from, Michael?

I still have half an old plastic box of 250 stored with my ancient Crosman 760 and 766. It was my favorite hunting pellet back in the 1970s. Accurate enough at the ranges I needed for squirrel, rabbit, and the occasional starling. The flat wadcutter IMO is as-good-or-better than the hollow point. Hollow points don't really expand at these velocities. The wadcutters made/make a more satisfying "meat-POP!" sound and do more damage IMO.

Flash forward 40+ years and I feel the same way about the current production of these pellets. Any time I find them for under 1 cent per pellet, I'll add a few boxes/tins to my pellet shelf. I'm all stocked up for this year after the Amazon price bot dropped the Daisy Wadcutter tins (500pcs) to $3.19 each last Dec 2019 (a pre-pandemic holiday sale stock-up).

They fly well in all my multi-pumpers, CO2, and low power springers. I tend to NOT use them in my magnum springers and PCPs as they can go supersonic. I've also had the occasional PCP magazine feed glitches with wadcutters. The heavier dome/hollow-point pellets perform better in my higher power and magazine fed air rifles.

I made a mistake. It’s a case of 6000. 12 boxes of 500ct. I got um on the bay. Search for daisy pellets you’ll find them. Good price with free shipping.

Old thread but a search turned up nothing else related.

Trying to find that favorite pellet in .177, and the Daisy wadcutter in a plastic container with 100 each of three types took 2nd place. First place pellets weren't that much better but 3 times the cost.

Dial-a-pellet type red container, clear lid, yellow/black sticker on top, old old old says made in China on bottom label.

Anybody know what they are or if they can be purchased separately from the sampler?

There seem to be 250's, 500's, and one other, all different weights. Very picky gun...

If the Daisy branded and Winchester branded pellets were the same, then the older "Made in China" Daisy pellets may have been ~9.7 grain and the newer "Made in Spain" pellet are likely ~7.6 grain.
I really liked the heavier Winchester version but haven't seen any for sale in a couple years. I'm assuming most inventories have been flushed and are now full of the lighter pellets. IMO these are NOT bad pellets, just different. I'll buy the lighter ones for about a penny a pellet or less. If I ever find the "heavies" again I'll gladly pay a little more.

I used to buy these for ~$2.50. Now less available and more expensive.

Thanks, appreciate all the work you did. Maybe I should have added I've tried several wadcutters already and these shot about 1/4" group compared to about an inch and a half for several other wadcutters I've tried. At least the 9.7 grain hint might get me there. I didn't know (apparently) the Winchesters were the same thing!

It's funny too --- the FTT's that did a little better, fit better, and seem to engage the rifling before going all the way in, but the Daisy's I'm looking to replenish fit so loose I watch when I close the breach in fear they will fall out. Nothing else I've tried that fit loose will group except these Daisy's...

Just an aside, it's not a rifle known for quality, Beeman 0035 (maybe it's a Beeman imported Norica GT600). Shoots the Daisy's at about 410 fps, the 8.64 gr. 4.52mm FTT's at around 385 fps.

I reckon all I'm thinking is those Daisy's shoot good enough for $.01 each vs. over $.03 for the FTT's. Anyway, message received loud and clear ... Daisy/Winchester 9.7 grain wadcutters no longer available...

It appears the closest, and possible match, is Winchester 9.6 grain wadcutters.

They come in 500's, so I'll probably try the ammo exchange gate first to see if anyone's got some and wants to try what I gots

I love a heavy wadcutter in .177 and RWS Supermags are my current favorite. I'd like to try some 9.6 Winchesters, but I added 1000 to my cart at Gamo USA and shipping is as much as the cost of the pellets. I haven't been able to find them anywhere else.

Restarting my airgun hobby(?) in 2017 my first Winchester pellets came from a local Tractor Supply. They were in black & gold carded tins printed "Made in China". Those pellets shot very well out of my more powerful springers. Local TS dropped them so I started watching for similar sales online. This was ~2019. I did find what I THOUGHT were exactly the same pellets online. Nearly identical carded tins with the same SKU# and UPC code. I've purchased several dozen tins of Winchester pellets (round-nose, hollow-point, wad-cutter) online since then whenever I find them for around $5/500 with cheap or free shipping.

When I tried those first "Made in Spain" pellets in my larger springers I was SURPRISED by the LOUD crack of supersonic pellets. When I weighed the new verses old pellets I found the weight difference.

Black & Gold carded tins "Made in China" were all around 9.6 grain pellets.
Black & White carded tins "Made in Spain" were all around 7.6 grain pellets.

Even when the online listing explicitly states Winchester 9.6 grain, I've NEVER received more heavies from any online seller. EVERY online tin purchased since ~2019 has been black & white printed "Made in Spain" and contains ~7.6 grain pellets.

I still occasionally buy Winchester pellets when on sale because they are not bad pellets. Still have some hope that someone will try to sell an old warehouse stash of the 9.6 grain pellets but I suspect that stock was depleted long ago.

I have not ordered the Winchester wad-cutter pellets from Gamo yet. I'll wait to see what people ACTUALLY RECEIVE when ordering these.

I have some older ones "Made in China" with the Black & Gold printing and they actually DO weight about 9.6 grains. I bet folks who order the current stock will get the newer Black & White "Made in Spain" 7.6 grain pellets. If anyone reading this thread orders these from Gamo can you please weight them when they arrive and confirm the actual weights? Thanks :-)

Michael was right. I got my order and weighed samples from all 3 tins and they are 7.6 grains. I contacted customer support and stated my displeasure at their false advertising. We'll see how far that goes.

Sad to read that they are 7.6 grain, but i expected that. I have a couple dozen tins of those 7.6 grain pellets mostly acquired trying to find the 9.6 grain version. IMO they are ok pellets for ~1 penny a pellet so i never tried for a return/refund.

I'm pretty disappointed but I wasn't completely surprised after what you said. I felt like it was worth taking a chance on finding a cheaper RWS Supermag replacement. Hopefully they will fix the weight on their website after they read the complaint I sent them.

They are in a blister pack and labeled Made in Spain. There is no weight shown on the tins or the blister pack. The weight was listed as 9.6 grains in the description on the Gamo website.
