Benjamin Recharge - Not off to a good start!

UPDATE: So, this is what a Benjamin Recharge is supposed to look like in the box!  This is a picture of the new one Phillip sent along with a message saying they will be adding more straps and totally shrink wrapping it before they ship it to me next Monday or Tuesday!  I don't know yet if it will require a signature or not, but I hope it does.  Maybe when a signature is required and the driver actually has to come face to face with the recipient, they are less likely to destroy it before they deliver it!  I also plan on contacting UPS when I receive the tracking number and ask them to monitor the progress so that it's not destroyed a third time!  Ridicules the hoops you have to jump through just to get something you purchased delivered in one piece these days!

Crazy man, but I think you're going to be good this time.  I have bad luck with pretty much anything UPS, FedEx...USPS is probably the most gentle astonishingly.  I've literally always had all my airguns I've ordered come in a hardcase just so I had an extra layer of protection.  Cost me a few extra bucks but I've never had a gun arrive damaged, even though the box always looks like someone stomped the stuffing out of it.

I just received notification the order was placed for #3!  I was told it will be strapped to a small pallet this time and they may be using a different carrier.  Sad Crosman has to jump through so many hoops just to get a product delivered undamaged.  But, as a consumer, I'm thrilled they are willing to jump through all those hoops to take care of their customers! They definitely have excellent Customer Service!

Yep, it’s in transit. Crosman is using a freight carrier to deliver it this time. It should be here early next week. They said they strapped it to a pallet for the shipment!  Sad they had to jump through those types of hoops just to get a product delivered without being destroyed. But, I’m thrilled they have the level of Customer Service to ensure their customers  get an undamaged product and are happy!

I sure hope so!  Short of placing it in an armored truck and delivering it themselves, I'm not sure what else they could do to ensure it's delivered in one piece!  Just curious, what yours shipped from Optic Planet, or was it drop shipped from Crosman?

Granted, if it was drop shipped, it had a much shorter trip to you than it does to me.  And if so, I wonder if the damage happened to mine at the Atlanta Hub since it goes to two different spots and usually sat at one of them over the weekend...

Just to close the loop, third time is a charm!  My 3rd Benjamin Recharge arrived today.  I was shrink-wrapped to a small pallet and had an extra layer of cardboard around it to protect it.  It arrived in a semi and was delivered to my door on a portable fork lift.  I didn't get a picture of it on the pallet because the kind gentleman who delivered it offered to take away the pallet and shrink-wrap so I didn't have to deal with disposing of it.

But, the box underneath all that protection was pristine!  You can't imaging how excited that made me after the utter disgust I felt when the first two were delivered by UPS!

Before I undid the packing straps I grabbed a roll of packing tape and secured every side, corner, and bottom of the box.  I then cut the 3 straps on top and removed the Recharge and all the accessories.  Everything was there and there wasn't a scratch, ding, or dent on the compressor and it didn't rattle either!  I then finished taping the straps to the inside of the box to keep them secure, put the foam packing back in, put on the top and moved it to my garage.  I now have a strong, secure shipping box, should it ever need to be shipped somewhere. 

I filled it with Compressor oil, distilled water and 1 ½ oz of matter wetter.  I ran the pump to get the water circulating and then topped it off with more water.  Once all the fluids were in and at the proper level, I connected the fill whip and plugged it with the deadhead.  I set the gauge for 4000 psi and let her rip!  Seconds is all it took to hit it's mark and shut off!  I'm also thrilled that it is quite a bit quieter than the YH compressors it's modeled after.  Probably has to do with having a different head on the high side of the compressor and being fully encased in a metal box.

All in all I am thrilled to once again have a fast compressor that will fill my bottle guns in just a few short minutes, instead of multiple 10 minute sessions with time to cool off in-between.  If I have one gripe about this compressor, it's that the temperature gauge is in Celsius!  Benjamin?Crosman?Velocity Outdoors is a U.S. company, they should have specified that it have a temperature gauge that displays Fahrenheit!  Although, it does have an LED display that is way easier to see than the LCD displays on the YH compressors!

Great news! Glad to hear that number 3 arrived intact and we have to give an A+ to Crossman for ordering a special shipment to you.
I'm also happy with mine and feel that I made a good choice and most importantly, no more babysitting. Set it and forget it.

Yes it is!  That's what I missed most about the YH's was the speed!  More time to shoot, less time babysitting a compressor!

I’m debating between the recharge and the hill right now. But honestly I’ve been disappointed with air Venturi and I’m worried about the hill. If I could buy it directly from hill I would, I’ve gone through 3 nomads. The longest I got one to last was 14 months, sent it too them got it back and it still doesn’t work. I was told that I must be doing something wrong. I’m hoping to get a compressor within the next month.

the Benjamin has the best warranty out there.. alongside the shoebox which lasts a lifetime and has been proven over the last decade.

I was going to go with the Hill, even had one on pre-order at PA.  Then had an opportunity to get the recharge.  It was a rough start, but Crosman has already proven to me I chose the better route to go.  Yes, the Recharge is based on the YH compressor and yes, it's made in China, but it's backed by Crosman and has a lot of built in features that should make it last a good long time.  The Hill Pump is slower, not designed to fill larger tanks, and won't fill to 4500 psi, so there are shortcomings.  But, it's not made in China, so hopefully, the quality will be there.
