Umarex APX NPG & pellet testing

Yesterday my Crosman 760 had it's first malfunction. I think the pump cup gave out. Not a lube problem. About 2500-3000 pellets fired through it. My Remington Airmaster 77 has a problem also. Accuracy got worse, and it's for sure, low on power. Have to order parts for both, and have a lust ready.
So, I took out my Umarex APX NPG for some bench work. Have not fired it much sinch I got it. I know it seemed to like RWS Meisterkugeln rifle pellets pretty well, but not many others. Decided to start from scratch, so took a good selection of pellets outside. Darned if the first one I tried didn't work out just fine. That pellet was the RWS Hobbys. I zero'd in the Pinty 3x9 illuminated reticle scope easily. My practical air rifle use is night ratting, and this rifle is ready to go. Despite a very hard trigger, it shot well. The NPG has so many o'rings and wipers on the pump head to lube. Like five or so.

Hi Jon.
I also have a Umerex NXG APX multi pump rifle.
I use it for backyard pest elimination.
Mine does best with the RWS 6.9 gr. Super-H-Point pellets.
It also does well with Crosman 7.4 gr Premier Pointed pellets.
Best Wishes - Tom

Thanks, Tom. I've tried those pointed Crosman pellets. Not good in this gun. I have not tried the Super H Points yet. I will, and do have some. There are quite a few pellets I haven't tried in it. I actually tried some Daisy wadcutters yesterday with decent results. More testing to do.

Since Tom stated that he had good results shooting RWS Super H Points in his Umarex APG NPX, I dug out my tin of them. Hadn't hardly tried these in any of my airguns. Very glad I did. these seem to beat the Daisy pellets I mentioned above. Not only that, but using my poor mans chronograph (a heavy duty tin soup can), readout says that, even at 6 pumps, that should suffice for night ratting for me (translation-easily goes cleanly through both sides of the can). Looks like I better order more of the pellets!
