I have done a lot of research into these recently and it looks like many of those issues have been corrected in recently manufactured Aspens. From what I've read the main remaining issue is the overheating of the main seal in the pump, but that can be resolved by altering your technique to a slower and more frequent pumping. I don't own one so I can't speak from experience, but multiple recent forum threads seem to come to the same conclusion. There is also a lot of info about changing that main seal if it does burn up.
Thank you. I had read about the main seal too and was wondering if they had fixed that, but it doesn't look that way.
