Baikal IZH Mp-46M RE-SEALING INSTRUCTIONS

I have a Baikal MP-46M air pistol, by far my best airgun. It is about 10 years old and has not been fired very much. Recently, when I pump the handle and press it forward, I hear a slight sound of air leaking and although the bolt pops up, there is no power when closed, loaded, and the trigger is pulled. Since the pump handle can be returned with very little or no pressure, can I assume that it is the piston seal which has failed? When I put a little ATF on the seal, and pump it fast, it sometimes retains a little pressure and the gun fires.

I have read some of the posts on this forum about replacing seals on this gun, but I need to know more about it, like disassembly steps, and more detail about actual installation of the piston seal which some have mentioned here that that is very difficult to do. I have the correct seal kit which came with the gun.

I am a VERY senior person with not much skill in this area so I will need more direction than average!

Thank you for any help and direction that you can offer, I love this gun and want to be sure to do it correctly and with no more damage!

by the way, what is "magic sauce" mentioned in some of the posts that I have read?

Hello, the “secret sauce” you see mentioned  is a special mixture of oil that is sold by Mac one air guns.

 he is a vendor here he is very good at what he does and has been in the airgun business for 30 to 40 years plus.

The IZH is not hard to reseal, but does require a certain level of dexterity, and mechanical aptitude..

If you don’t feel confident in doing the work yourself, it might be best if you have someone do it that does it for a living..

I would like to try to replace the seals myself and I think I can do it with some help on just what has to be done.

My Baikal just started to show much reduced resistance to pressing the handle back down and there is only a faint 'click' when it is loaded and the trigger is squeezed.

Does that indicate that the leaking seal is the Piston Cup? I will replace all of the seals once I start it, but can you tell me how to take it apart and what to watch out for?

I have owned a 46, and a 46m, but the only sealsievef had to replace was the breech seal.

I have never been into the insides. 

Have you searched YouTube videos?
While1 may not help, if there are several, from different people, you can put together a complete picture of what needs to be done.

Thank you, Ian, I saw no instructions on YouTube on sealing these guns.

Can you tell me which seal the one responsible for leaking when you push the handle back in place. It would seem to be the piston cup.

FWIW, the second Russian ebay link above is Mikhail. I've purchased many many items from him with complete reliability. It has taken up to or maybe more than four weeks to arrive however (note his shipping arrival dates).

Mikhail (Saper-Custom) has sometimes gone out of his way to find a particular item that I was looking for - and came through with it as well.

On a side note, Mikhail once worked at the Baikal plant, and still lives there.

I have an IZH MP 532 that did exactly the same when I bought it in 2012. After cocking, I could hear the air release. Just recently i got it out and now it works perfectly. I doused it in oil a few times before I left it to sit for years. So, maybe oil saturation can help.
