As to the hunter’s safety class, my twins took it a few years ago, and as with all things these days, they did it, “on line”, which means almost all of it was on the computer.  In order to pass, they went to a (I think), 4 hour class locally.  I went with them to see how it went.  They turned in their online tests, etc. and the instructor quickly went over all the material.  The only hands on, was that the instructor took each student, one at a time, out of the room to demonstrate safe gun handling with a remington 870.

They watched a few videos, listened to a few hunting stories, and took a final exam.  Just not a lot to it.

More often than not, the ethical shot is the one you don't take.  The shot you do take though should be humane.  The neck shot was my favorite, and from what I have seen it is the most humane way to kill.  They dropped in their tracks.  I never had one even take a step.  You are seldom offered an optimal neck shot though.  I suppose when my granddaughters want to go I shall go once again, just to pass on the heritage.  See if we can neck shoot a squirrel or two.  And teach them about squirrel, pressure cookers, and squirrel gravy.

Now, I don't go.  Spent a lifetime honing the blood skills. I have caused more needless suffering than I want making ethical shots.  In my old age guilt haunts me.  So ya'll go lay'em down.  I gonna' stay here in camp, stir this seafood gumbo and drink another ZingZang Bloody Mary.  I'll help you clean them when you get back.

Means that you don’t take shots you are unsure of. Those of us who have done a lot of hunting or pesting know how many times that “perfect shot” went awry. Then you have to shoot that critter more than once to end its suffering. Not to mention the ones that get away wounded to die elsewhere. Unsure shots at game just make the possibility of a wounded animal much more probable. I’ve shot enough critters that I find it easy to pass on the ones I’m not absolutely sure of killing. We all want that lightning strike type of kill, but it doesn’t work that way in practice. So only, sure, high confidence shots at reasonable yardages within your shooting ability in the field, if you want to be ethical. A lot of farmers around here would say they didn’t care where you hit them, as long as you curb their appetite. I could understand their sentiment, but still only took killing shots.

lol this ins't Facebook, there's no reason to make a grandiose statement about blocking someone. Especially after establishing, that in fact, it's against the rules to air out PMs. And then make a spectacle about blocking the person because of PMs. Which kinda makes wonder, you know, the other side of those coveted PMs.

Well my whole point right there was just to block a fellow instead of riding it on out into oblivion. While we are talking about grandiose gestures on social media- Pot meet Kettle    Can't help but toggle the posts though.  At least he can't PM me anymore.

No, your whole point was to establish that you were morally superior, which is why you broad-casted that you were PM blocking him rather than just do it and move on.
