Ok so I have been out of the airgun game for 5 years now. Had my marauder stolen. I took me 6 years to get to a marauder, through buy/sell/trade... broke my heart to say the least
Being someone afflicted with a TBI ( brain injury frontal lobe damage  ) money doesnt come easy. My wife is a attorney. That does not mean we are well off by any means. All that said we are finally getting to a point between us where we have a little left over at the end of a pay period.  My little fly tying vise company is growing and the same with her law firm

I was able to purchase a .25 marauder Refurbished from FS as a starting point. If everything works out the way I plan I should be able to pick up a piece each month ( fingers crossed )
I built up my old marauder on the knowledge shared with me here on this forum, also on an exstreamly slim budget.
This time I want to do it right.
My first purchase will be one of 3 thing a scope, a pump, or a chrono. Either way what I am asking with all the parts needed for a .257 build what would be the list of parts to buy, and in what order.
I have read a lot, and really have not found a link that straight up gives a list of parts needed. Perhaps it is my lack of technology skillz, but if some one has a link I would love it

Sorry to read about your loss.  I lost a .25 Marauder to theft myself, so had to buy twice (used).

I know Travis with JSAR has converted a Marauder to .257 caliber.  I'd do a search for .257 Marauder on the GTA and the Marauder forum.  You'll see plenty of post about it.

IMHO, you will need lots of mods to pull this off successfully.  The breech has to be modified to accept the longer slugs.  Probably a bolt mod too to seat the larger diameter slugs properly.  Of course a high flow valve and port expansions will be needed as well.  Most likely you'll need to fill to 3200 psi for decent shot count.  I would suspect the end result to be 4 or 5 shots around 100 FPE plus.  Accuracy is the unknown after all of these mods.

Although I haven't pulled the trigger myself for several reasons, I think long-term you would be better off getting a JSAR .257 Raptor.  I believe long term it would be the cheaper route and more enjoyable.

I'm wanting a .257 Raptor myself, but am waiting for the adjustable reg to come out and be proven to work well, which should be very soon.  They do ship currently with a fixed reg, but the adjustable reg will ship once in stock.  I also want a Left-hand version.  Save up!

I will go check out the raptor, but honestly I find building to be very rewarding. Small accommodations are a big deal for my kind ( TBI) of people. I see this as maybe a year or so collecting the parts, then dive into the build

Don't let me hinder your plans of enjoyment.  I did a quick calculation of the cost of the aftermarket mods I have in just my .25 Synrod alone.  The quick calculation came to ~ $500 in parts.  That's with having the same barrel and stock afterwards.  As you see, I'm not off by much from getting a Raptor.  If I hadn't bought a used Marauder I would be over the cost of a Raptor.  None of this aftermarket cost included outside labor either.  At the end of the modifications all I have still is a Marauder, but it's much lighter and more powerful with a much lower ES with the same amount of shots as stock.  From experience, it was a lot of fun, but don't plan to do it again after having modded two Marauders.

  Are you set on a .257 ?  As stated above, the long slug is just not Marauder friendly. If you are looking for more FPE and longer range, 30 cal kits are available. Without getting too crazy, A Marauder valve from Tim Hill and a TJ 30 cal barrel shooting NSA Slugs will give you 80 plus FPE and better accuracy out past 100 yards.  Not trying to change your mind. Just giving some options. I know what its like being restricted by the Marauder. I currently am working on a 22 cal and 30 cal for slugs!

Good luck on your build. I have several lowly marauders with just as much as a Raptor invested. It's easier for me to spend a little bit at once and as for saving it seems like every time I get more than 500 bucks stashed away something comes up lol.I don't regret it at all. In fact I have plans to make/build another one in 357 this winter.

Yes this is what I'm talking about. It is for the pleasure of doing the mods. Airguns and fly tying is the same to me in the fact that I understand I will never save any money doing it. Well I do have one mold for pellets, but still?
