Fall Hunting - 25 cal. Hatsan 125 - Nice Black & Red *Graphic Pictures*

It was raining yesterday and this morning. The rain stopped this afternoon and I got out for a little hunting. I was hunting with a 25 cal Hatsan 125TH Spring Rifle.  I was shooting 25 cal Benjamin 27.8 gr. Domed Pellets. The woods were damp and boggy with all the recent rain. After the rain stopped the wild life had a chance to get out and feed...which they did. The Blue Jays, Cardinals, Nut Hatches, Rose-Breasted Grosebeaks and Chickadees were flying all about, I saw various Woodpeckers too.  In the far distance I spotted some Whitetail Does milling about under Oak trees, feeding on the acorns. It was hard to find a dry place to set with all the rain that had fallen. I moved into an area where there were 5 or 6 large White Oaks and sat down on a log behind one of them. There was no noise of squirrels moving about in the fallen leaves because of the wetness. That also meant that I could move about without making any noise too. I spotted 3 grays moving in the treetops but there was no shot on them. Out of nowhere... a nice Black ( Black Phase Gray Squirrel) appeared in front of me.  It was an easy 15 or 20 yard "ground shot" on this guy.  He was at the base of one of the oak trees. He was broadside to me and I lined up the easy shot bracing the rifle on the tree that I was hiding behind. Just as I pulled the trigger the squirrel moved. I thought I had missed but later I found out the the 25 cal. pellet had grazed his neck.  So the squirrel took off and went up the Tree that he was under.  I reloaded as fast as I could,  he was quickly moving out of eyesight.  I knew that I would loose this one if did not DO Something Now. I let out a sharp whistle and he froze to see what that was. That gave me but a moments chance to take a quick second shot. I quickly razed the rifle and took the only shot that was offered me. The squirrel was hugging the main tree trunk, high in the oak, looking for where the whistle had come from. The shot was at a steep angle up ( maybe 60 to 70 degrees)  and around 25 to 30 yards away. I had a partial view of the upper chest and back. I braced the rifle on the tree again and squeezed the trigger. The pellet hit him in the back neck area and exited thru his mouth. It broke his neck and passed thru his brain. His teeth were shattered by the pellet's exit. The second shot was a one and done deal. He immediately dropped to the ground bouncing of branches on the way down.  After I retrieved this nice Black Male Squirrel I found the first grazing shot mark on his neck. This all happened at around 3 PM.  I sat around for another hour then headed back to my pick-up. On the way back to the truck, I picked of a nice female red that was feeding on the ground. It was broadside to me at about 18 to 22 yards away. That shot was also a rested shot on a tree trunk and the pellet passed thru both shoulders traversing the heart and lungs. 

The forest was in Full Fall Color today. It was a good day's hunt.... despite the cold, wind and wetness.  I was satisfied and happy with my harvest.

Reverse mohawk it was.......Both of those squirrels really got hammered.    That 125 Hatsan has got a lot of Smack.

Yup..that  25 cal. Hatsan 125 really puts the... "Big Hurt"... on the squirrels.

It really gives them a wallop when it hits them with a 27.8 grain pellet.

Yup...the 25 cal Hatsan 125TH.......... makes a big hole in the squirrels.

Very devastating on impact and lots of power for a break barrel, spring powered, rifle.

Nice shooting Tom. I have owned two Hatsan 125 rifles and they will put a wallop on small game, while you get your exercise carying that "built like a tank" airgun through the woods.

Was just wondering how the Hatsan performs vs B28 in .25?

I bought this rifle last April from cherokeesteve. 
He clocked this rifle at 775 to 781fps with 19.91 gr. Hatsan Supreme domed pellets.
I don't know how that compares to an Xisico XS-B28 but I would imagine they are fairly similar.
