I have not had a good start to my pcp adventure. I picked up a used discovery that I just was not satisfied with accuracy. I resold it and got an umarex gauntlet. After a couple days the poppet stuck and it would not hold air. I sent it back and got another one. When the new one arrived it had the same problem. I sent it back as well and got a gamo urban. After a few days of waiting for the fill probe adapter I went to sight it in and it was leaking air out of the barrel same as the gauntlet. I understand these entry level pcp air rifles wont be perfect and are likely to have issues but surely they should be able to be useful for more than just a week or two. I have been checking out reviews and looking around and the Seneca Aspen looks like it may fit me better mostly because of the hand pump as this will be a hunting gun and I would rather not lug gear around to refill air. I have found some but not alot of info on the Aspen so I'm looking for some opinions on it. Accuracy and reliability are my main concerns. I'm still wanting to hang around the same budget I have used for the other air rifles I have tried so I'm not looking to spend any extra at the moment.

Cory,
Sorry to hear about your string of bad luck with the other guns.
I cannot promise you will not get a leaker with a new Freedom as you know.
But...
You are going to see an awful lot of people like their Freedoms/Aspens!
I bought my first Freedom in 22 as a warranty return. I replaced the oring in the high pressure piston and have been shooting it with no issues for the last several months. Mine was well used when I got it and the aforementioned seal was destroyed most likely due to inadequate lubrication by the previous owner.
With out doing anything with the barrel and with the HSA set approximately to stock setting I can pretty much stack Benjamin HPs on high or low at 30 yds. The shot count is good for what it is, and for a hunting rifle I think it is great. Power is easily adjusted and it is easy to keep it in the sweet spot with the onboard pump.
The gun handles well and feels quite durable despite the hollow sounding stock.
I do not think I would have bought one if I had not bought this one as a backup / parts gun for my Liberty, but I liked it so much I bought another one.
I really love my Liberty too!
Neither of mine are particularly pellet picky.

Good reviews on the Aspen. It's a BIG gun.
I bought a 'no warranty' Freedom in .177.
Only issue so far is a slow leak. Not enough that I want to dig into it.
Lots of stuff going on in that gun that could have potential problems.
If you are afraid to dig into one, you might want to pick another option.
Just sayin'.

I bought the Aspen from PA and besides the loose barrel supports and the total lack of silicone lube in the pump I love it. Once I got the pump lubed up right and tightened the barrel shroud supports it's been very accurate and it doesn't leak at all. I did have a problem with the check ball where you fill the rifle from a pump but a shot of silicone oil and blast of air from my compressor and no leaking. Almost every PCP is going to have problems once in a while and a PCP shooter needs to be able to fix the problem. I bought a used Liberty which is basically a Aspen/Freedom less the on board pump and with a regulator. I bought it with full knowledge that it had a 100 psi a day leak. I took it apart by following Air Velocity Sport vid by Bank4 and it was simple as can be. I fixed the poppet which was the source of the leak and it held air just fine.
Here's the vid I'm taking about.
Oh by the way, here's a picture of a 10 shot group I did at 25 yards with the Aspen.

You haven't had good luck with PCP's simple PCP's.
Senca Aspen is actually one of the more complex systems. A pump and rifle in one self contined package is neat...but it's also the potential problems with a pump and a PCP rolled into one.
Not sure there are any (reguardless of price) that I'd claim was 100% right out of the box no matter who made it....but if you stick to the bog companies (that do have a service department you can deal with directly ) and the PCP's that have been around long enough to have a good reputation...and have the patence to keep sending it back and forth if need be...eventually they'll get it right.

I'm sure the Raptor is perfect right out of the box made by Jefferson State Air guns.

The concept of the Liberty/Aspen is genius IMO. The big drawback with pcps to me is the need for a source. Even when just outside target shooting I have to return to the Yong Heng before I want to be done. When afield it`s the same. Either I buy a bottle or return to the house (if I could afford the bottle I`d already have a Liberty). I would like to be able to do like I did as a kid with my Sheridan. Hunt all day without dealing with that issue. This may not help the op but as soon as I can afford one I`m buying. That is unless someone else wakes up and produces a gun to compete with the Liberty!

I really enjoy the Benjamin's and I actually have three of them. I just wanted to try out pcp's to see how I liked them and their multi shot capabilities. I dont mind opening an air rifle up as long as I know what I'm looking at.

Well I did one more exchange on the Urban. The manometer is stuck on this one. Since I hand pump so far I have just been able to use the gauge on the pump for the time being. I'll give it a while and hopefully no leaks on this one but if so I may look in to the Aspen

I just did some cronoing of my Aspen. Pressure at 3000 to 3100 psi HS adj set 1/2 turn out from max and I'm getting 930 fps with an JSB 18.13 pellet. Not sure what it does as far accuracy as I've only target shot 21.14 cudas.

if i am not knee deep into other pcp’s, i would buy an Aspen in .25 and call it good. if you have any problems let the PA boys know asap, they have a good warranty and exchange program. make sure it holds air for a day and pumps good.
i would also look into Benjamin 392 and Diana Dragonfly also. those multipump guns are lighter than the aspen but also less powerful in their oem setup. then comes the mods...

I do have a Sheridan C9A but would like to find a good 392. I haven't done any mods on mine though.
