Beeman chief II

Just got me a new Beeman Chief II repeater with the 10 round magazine in .177 caliber.  It's really nice but definitely not backyard friendly. It's like really loud! The muzzle brake that's on it appears to be completely useless. I don't see a set screw on it to take it off. I'm going to try and figure out a way to get it off but before I go taking a heat gun to it. Hoping someone knows of a better way to get it off. I'm thinking it's probably epoxied or red loctite attached.

The barrel is  threaded and has a jam nut that holds the moderator in place. You need to pull the front of the moderator off to get to the jam nut .

Ok thanks I'll try that. Going to have to put an LDC on it or it will be basically useless to me. Should the front of the moderator come off relatively easy or is it put on by adhesive?

I could not get the end off so I cut the moderator  right behind the sight use caution as the mod has a spring in it .

The muzzle brake appears to be plastic. What did you use to cut it with? Were there any baffles in it? It's just that it's so loud and for the size of it there should be at least a little sound suppression. It looks a lot like the moderator on a Diana Stormrider Gen 1 but larger.  At least with the Diana Stormrider the moderator works a little bit.
