Lucky me! I bought an FWB-Sport 124 for my wife

We were driving to Minot, N.D. to visit our son and his family.  We stopped along the way to visit a friend who had traded for a left handed air rifle.  Well, we wanted it more than he did. My wife sat down cross-legged on the grass and shot this FWD-Sport like it was made for her. (she is a lefty) The FWB followed us home.

It was recently resealed.  The blueing was nearly perfect and the stock had a minimal amount of dings.  The stock's issue was that the finish had started to separate just in front of the pad.

 A few days ago, I stripped the finish off with lacquer thinner, the stain was in the lacquer and was washed off.  A coat of Minwax walnut stain was applied along with some gloss finish. In a few weeks, I'll wet sand it and apply one more coat of finish.  The stock"s finish is growing on me.

I upgraded the sights, I had an extra Williams dovetail mounted rear sight that I installed and I replaced the front sight post insert with a 4.2 mm ghost ring.  My wife and I are accustomed to peeps.

I'm not what you would call computer savvy, and Lizzie has agreed to post a photo of plain old me holding this nice FWB.  Lizzie thank you for your gracious help.

That rifle is what got me in this forum after years of sitting around all alone with my airgun fever.  I collected many more fine rifles and I love them all for the specific things they can do in the caliber they are in.

I find the scoped FWB Sport is a bit challenging to balance compared to the open sights.  I am actually going to remove the scope from the FWB Sport  to make it less top heavy--but I haven't gotten around to it yet.  I've been watching the price on this rifle remain around $800 while others have been discounted in sales and clearouts.

The money stays with the FWB for life.  It is a perfect air rifle in all ways!

I did take one photo of the grip area. I wanted a visual record of the color and density change of the checked area.  Most of the original finish was dark and flat.  The grain was barely visible.

Beeman was the first importer of FWB and HW.

I was born in San Rafael in 1957 at St. Rapheal's.  Later I went to seminary in San Anselmo from 1983-1987, and in 1983 I found Dr. Beeman walking on Air Way Drive where his first shop was located.  I bought an HW35EB and after that had been going springers since.

So your rifle is dated around the time of his first shop before Santa Rosa.  I visited the Santa Rosa shop but Beeman wasn't there anymore and the joint was more interested in selling without regard to being polite and helpful.  I never went to the place in Huntington Beach even though I've lived all over Northern or Southern CA.

I like my FWB mostly as something like an HW80 or R1 or R9--very strong rifle, too strong to have lots of fun with over extended shooting.  The FWB in the 80s was not the same as mine today, but the blending of it into the new FWB Sport is obvious.
