This thread has inspired me. I've had a 392 wood stocked version laying in pieces in my shop for the better part of a year now. It was given to me for free; it wouldn't hold air... I took it apart with the intent to refinish the wood, and reseal. Then life...

Took the trigger group apart,polished and lubed it. trigger is decent now.

Will probably do that at some point. For now,stuck a few small strips of velcro in a few spots and that helped some.

I can't even find the synthetic version listed anywhere, and that includes the Crosman site.

Did they maybe release the synthetic version in an attempt to save them and just drop the model altogether when it just made things worse ?

I tell ya Crosman is just about dead to me, my guns love their affordable pellets and they've still got the 13xx platform and custom shop but beyond that they just keep digging their grave deeper year after year.

I said that when I was young...when they started importing springies instead of staying with pumpers or building the Stirling HB's...

Just got done shooting some paintballs and cherry tomatoes off golf tees in the backyard. Took some slight sight adjustments as it was a little longer range than the basement. Even with the high winds here today it was still a lot of fun. This was the most I've pumped it and it is easier than my 392.

Good to know about the easier pumping. So the pump arm is longer, but does the pump linkage look like the same length as always?

My intention was to buy one of these new synthetic models as soon as they came out, but so far have resisted the urge.
May do it yet, but also have a 392pa I want to send to Mac1 for steroiding.... decisions decisions lol.

It looks cool but wood has proven to last forever plastic may not my 2cents.

I ordered some 39x exhaust poppets from Crosman recently, and the latest ones have a molded plastic head with a slight thinning of the shaft near the body.
Seems like the newer poppets might be cheaper to make - molded one piece plastic head instead of machined brass plus the rubber seal inlay, slightly better flowing due to the shaft taper, and more durable and longer lasting due to the hard plastic sealing surface rather than the soft rubber of the old ones.

I have seen the synthetic stock 392 and it looks fine. I just got two wooden stocked 392s on closeout from Academy at less than $60.00 each. Both are fine shooters once I remove the paint from the barrel. So I guess the wooden version is gone. There were three there and I told a coworker and he grabbed the other also for under $60.00. By serial mine are from 2014 and 2015, one has the gold lettering and the other does not. Both shoot exactly the same. Both guns seem very clean and well put together.
