Sorry, All. It's been slow going.
Bandsaw is now rebelted and rebladed. Plank was fun to plane by hand, but the 90 degrees that I need was cleaned up on the jointer.

So, Mitch, the real layout has started.
Im going to drill the forward “sled” mounting hole first. Then all measurements can use that as their “zero-point”.
Ill get a pic once it is draawn out on the plank, and double-checked.

Here is a 2-hour test project, an unimportant runthrough. When I want to test a router set-up, this will be my guineapig for the benchrest.

29.75mm is the distance between the two mounting screws on the feinwerkbau action.

Ok, the plank may have been only 2 years old. As I planed a face flat, stresses warped it again like a frenchfry. An inch a year is what they say dries out.

I probably mind the LEAST - its a dense piece of tree! It has been fun to work on, but I also want to do it right the first time.
So far i have hand planed it, and then run it over the jointer about 25 times - next up it is going to go through the planer. Ill take off more material in one pass per side. If it is stable for several days, i will then square two faces, minimum, and set my centerline. That is when the inletting will start. Bolt holes first. (I still have to cut the heads off the husqvarna muffler bolts i found, they will be the 4” inletting stock pins)

Well,
You can’t rush a craftsman . He has to work within the parameters of the material.

Sorry guys. The wood is ready, but I've been a little frazzled.
It is going to pick up in earnest in February, promise - (my Dad's funeral, and my divorce are mostly taken care of, so this is the kind of FUN project i need right now) We'll just put that behind us.
OK, onwards and upwards.
More soon, but if i remember, the first two holes to drill are the action bolts that are 29.75mm apart - I will check that twice before 'cutting', I promise. I'll post a photo of the layout on the plank - once i draw it back on again. I planed it off as I flattened the faces.
And I will do one final planing - through the actual planer - a 15" bridgewood. The wait will have done the board good.

Dick,
I believe his life has a lot of hurdles at this time. He might have lost his shop to boot.

I'm Fascinated by the project.
From the growth rings it looks like it was a fast growing tree. Letting it sit, dry, and stabilize for 4 months was a good thing
