yesterday afternoon i had yearning for some alone time, so i set sail to find a quiet place to drop the hook and read.  i spent the late afternoon and night on the South River.  i shared a small cove with some pelicans and cormorants, until about 9pm when the USMC helicopters came out for maneuvers.  it was a perfect night with just enough breeze to keep the cabin a cool 64*.  at 0630 this morning i woke, prepared a breakfast of sausage, eggs, and coffee and started my sail home.  i was out about an hour when a gust hit and buried the starboard rail.  i heard items crashing about down below and i quickly turned up and reduced the genoa.  after another 30 minutes of fighting the strong wind, i figured i needed at least 8 tacks and 9 hours to return home and i had a bachelor party to attend at 5, so i doused the sails and fired up the iron wind.  after crashing through 3' high seas for 2 1/2 hours i was back at the slip.  with the wind still pounding from the NW i couldn't bring her into the slip alone.  i moved her to a long dock and tied up along side.  the wind is finally down to 10mph and i'll be leaving soon to put her away properly.  afterward a shower and short nap before i'm off to the party! 

Running home before the Yanmar breeze is still better than hanging out in port!  And a little chop just builds character!  Wouldn't make a good story if you just sailed around the millpond.

Painted my grill near completion only lacking a little to finish. Found a ripped net in my pool's pump skimmer due to sharp edges on the basket so I got the dremel with a sanding bit and rounded the sharp edges of the basket where now it won't tear up any nets. Put a new net in then cleaned the skimmers and now the pool is good to go just still too cold to swim in yet. Picked up 4 trailer loads of limbs out of the yards and dumped them in the woods. Still a couple more loads of them in the very back yard to get but it started raining so I shut the outside work down until tomorrow.

Changed out the strut on the storm door and changed out a hose faucet that had been problematic for waaaay too long.

Helped the memsahib install a new dish washer.  Slow cooked some chops, a rack of ribs, and two links of sausage.  About an hour before it was ready my 84 year old mother's  husband came over to tell us that she wasn't feeling well and he wanted her to go to the hospital.  So we went over and convinced her to go.  I drove everyone to the ER and waited while the docs checked her out.  They say its just bad Bronchitis and they gave her some scripts and sent her home.  By the time we got back the fire had burned down to coals and the meat was perfect!
Mom is taking it easy and doing  a lot better since she got a puffer of Welbutrin.

Yesterday I bought a Ryobi string trimmer and leaf blower, then I ran the string trimmer for hours until it got too dark. I haven't had one for a long time and there were some overgrown areas where I can't mow. My arms are a bit sore from that and there is more to do. I don't know if I'll wait a few days or just get to it, I will probably just do it.

 It was mostly clear with passing clouds and got up to 64°F yesterday so the weather was nice for yardwork.

Today it is supposed to be sunny and get up to 62°F.   

 No real plans for today.

Today was a Giant Romeo Foxtrot from the git go.  I started off prepping fire lines with a back pack blower because the big Goat pull behind blower wouldn't start.  After two hours of that I took a break and went down to the beach to give the lifeguards a break.  A couple of hours of that and I got called to a three car injury accident just outside the park exit. An SUV plowed into two parked cars totaling both before rolling four times and hitting a tree.  The driver didn't get a scratch and the two parked cars were unoccupied so god really does look after drunks!

But I spent the afternoon directing traffic on a hot blacktop.  To top the day off some visitors were reluctant to leave the park at closing time so per the manager's instructions I locked them in.  Then I called LE to come and write some tickets for trespassing.  LE arrived PO'ed because they got called out to do a trespass at the end of THEIR shift and gave me a ration of grief.

Some days the magic works and some days it doesn't.

Same here Kris. Many nights I got home only to find my parents telling me someone had seen me: driving too fast or driving recklessly or sneaking into the ballgame without paying, etc.

LOL.  I almost never got in trouble.   Once you establish a reputation as a good student, a "never gets in trouble" sort of kid, your good reputation can carry you a long ways for a long time.  And if you are also a meticulous planner of misdeeds and work on some mischievous skills, there's a whole new world to be discovered out there for you.   Just don't do anything that hurts someone financially or physically.   My brother was the defiant knucklehead.

Sam did the trespassing bastages get any of the LOEs ire as they should have instead of you? I hope they got fined so they won't pull that bs again. Park ranger says leave they should leave.

'course that was the late '70s early 80's... NOW it would be a different story.
