I opened an e-mail I wished I hadn't...
"All office staff will work Saturday and Sunday on the production lines to make up for loss of inventory due to COVID-19 for the foreseeable future".
Early retirement is looking better by the minute.

Bill, it probably doesn't help that some of the crew are lazy, that the South Korean management probably looks at them the way we look at garden pests, and expectations are that financial losses will be easily recouped.

My new overlords, I mean new company owners, have shown a clear lack of understanding how our company took care of customers, so I've been looking much more closely at The Eject Button (starting a lawncare company).   Sonja is on-board with whatever I decide, and if not for some upcoming septic renovations, I'd have probably triggered the button already.

I'm looking into options as well..... I would prefer to leave this company in a perpendicular fashion.
I've seen more than my share stretchered out in my years here.

Yesterday I spent the day at my dad and mom's house. Late last night my 86 year old mom drew her last breath. After 68 years of marriage my dad is without her now. She had a condition very similar to Alzheimer's. It was very painful for my dad to care for her until the end as he did but he says it was also a joy because he loved her so. The only words she would say for the last couple of weeks was Oh Darling, and Oh Honey. The last couple of years sometimes she knew me/my name and sometimes she would say I was one of my brothers. She always recognized me as one her sons and always had a smile for everyone. She always worked while I was growing up so I felt somewhat distanced from her, but forgave her along time ago for that, she did what she thought she needed to do for the family. I realize I am so much like her in so many ways. I am not very good at expressing my emotions either. She had a way of hugging with a few slaps on the back the really stung, "Love Hurts" right. After I broke my back I would not let her slap my back like that I would make sure to pull away quickly. I will miss my mom but I know I will see her again.

Bryan, all that work will still pay dividends just by where you now live.  I'll gladly take prime access with some hard work over easy street in the middle of Nowhere Fun.

I neglected to mention- no airguns yesterday.  Sonja loves sunflowers and we have a bunch in the front yard.  Well, I finally got around to putting my ancient beach cruiser back on the road.  It is a tank and has survived some harsh riding and tomfooleries, but sat mostly idle the last decade.   I had to replace the chain (it literally snapped in 3 places), the grips, and the handlebars to get ridable.  Well, since I had a good bike, I decided Sonja needed one.    We found a good one on Craigslist for cheap and picked it up.   The seller told me it needed a lot of work to get on the road.

Brought it home, aired-up the tires, cleaned the grime and lubed the chain, then straightened the handlebars.  I doublechecked the axle nuts and made sure the fenders were tight.  End result is a great cruiser that required nothing more than elbow grease.  Best part of all?  It's powder-blue, leather seat and grips, and has sunflower decorations on the frame and fenders.  Of course, we had to take a spin so we rode through the 'hood.  Nothing quite like a pair of 50-year olds giggling and laughing like a pair of teens as they cruise around.  The smile on her face would be worth 1000 times what I paid, and all it took was some air and a wipe down.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dan.  My wife's brother passed away unexpectedly yesterday so we are dealing with grief today too.

Really considering a Raptor but not sure if it could handle a heavy dump trailer with 1yd of dirt let alone 2 or 3.


Dan you described my grandparents as they were also married 68yrs and she had dementia so we all went through the agony of watching a brilliant woman reduced to not being able to barely speak. She's now free from her suffering in heaven having a wonderful time no longer constrained by health issues along with my grandfather who passed 8yrs later. We will see our loved ones again free of all pain and sadness never to be separated by death anymore.

Thank you all, while painful and a difficult transition to live with her gone I am sure that my dad will be able to get some rest now. He has been pushing himself so hard to care for my mom the last couple of years and insisted on doing almost everything himself. When awake he was always busy with paying the bills, doctor appointments, house cleaning, cooking, laundry, and taking no time out for himself. She was mentally out of it for a while but seemed physically strong, she didn't get sick with Covid or anything else, her body just shut down too.

Sonja and I woke up early (the usual time @ 4:45) and puttered, let dogs out, then decided we're gonna go to VB.  Along the way we may go check out a bike trailer (the type you hook up to your bicycle) and a couple more beach cruisers.  Supposed to be hot and sticky-humid today, so it should be good CO2-shootin' weather.  Also decided I need another CCS 2400KT.  May get the 14" LW.  I wish they offered it in 18"!

Morning Peter and Happy Belated Birthday!
 I woke up at my normal time as well. Last night I fried Burgers on the flat-top, fries and onion rings at the Lodge for Friday night dinner.
Today I am grilling Burgers-n Brats for 165 golfers, then I am going to detail the new-2-me truck under the big shade tree.
 Heat index warning here today so I may just sit and shoot under that same shade tree...

Happy Birthday, give it 8 more years it will tell for sure.   

Working getting the chicken coop moved and set up so I can get this year's hatch into bigger housing, still dealing with foxes and 1 coyote but haven't lost any more to them, the dogs have been high alert lately if I can just keep them out of the big traps. They quit after they get caught in them few times and find out that it is not a good thing.
